Airstone for AACT with EcoPlus Air-3

Hey all,   I finally have my airpump for my compost tea brewing: http://www.amazon.com/EcoPlus-Commercial-Air-Single-Outlet/dp/B002JLCDHQ   I would like to know your suggestions for airstones. This pump has a 6-way split for a total of 65 L/min.   I would like to brew 2 X 5 gallon tubs...

What do we think killed these guys?

I had some of my rocotos amarillo and limo die off like this when transplanted in new medium. On my side I think it was a mix of transplant stress, light intensity and maybe gnats.   Teurf

    Teurf 2014 - Grand Finale

I read some info on here: http://www.mattslandscape.com/hylocereus_info/   He suggests 1/3 sand, 1/3 compost, 1/3 soil. I guess any rich mix with adequate draining.   I saw a few videos of people building moss covered trellis so that the aerial roots can attach themselves growing upwards.  ...

Hey Kyox,   Thanks for the comment. Are your dragonfruit cactus growing faster? I guess so since you are in a tropical climate :). What kind of soil are you growing it in?   Teurf

    Teurf 2014 - Grand Finale

Another update to myself    I did my first hot pepper "challenge" with my awesome Peruvian coworker. Last friday, we ate a thai pepper before leaving, it was nice. I shed 3 or 4 tears but all in all it wasn't that bad. My friend had instant hiccups. Next time, we will do the...

    ChiliNoobs first glog [2014]

Yeah I did the same, I place some yellow sticky traps troughout my setup and catch hundreds of them. I also finally found some mosquito dunks locally and plunge those in my regular watering can. It reduces their numbers but I can't eradicate them, they keep coming back to haunt me. I always...

    ChiliNoobs first glog [2014]

It sure has been a long winter. I think we hit the coldest winter in 20 years for the Montreal area.   We received 15-20 cm of snow today :/   Are the pipi de mono and cerezo from the Peruvian Seeds posted from Nigel (on ebay)?? I tried Rocoto Limo and Amarillo, but all died when I transplanted...

    Teurf 2014 - Grand Finale

March 17 update:   Hello again. Lately I have had problems with my older pepper plants touching the T5 bulbs. I wanted to raise the shelf again but I was afraid it could affect the smaller ones lacking some light, especially with all the foliage affecting light penetration. I figured I still...

    Extreme pruning

I think it originated from a canna grower who wanted to prune before forks and accidently missed and cut after the fork, hence the FIM (f*** I missed) technique.   Unfortunately, I can't post a link to the site right now. Mainly, what you do is you only prune after the fork.   Teurf You can...

    Extreme pruning

Pruning forces the plant to branch out to form new leaves if they need them or can afford them. Big roots, lots of leaves.  It improves plant nodes thus pod starting site.   With what I understand, to improve pod formation site, you would prune any Y forking. But I also read about the FIMimmng...

    Sick Plants...Too Much Light??

I have had plants looking like this because of Nitrogen shock and also too much compaction of the media when transplanting. Roots seems to miss air or lack strength to pull out new roots.   Don't quote me on that, its only my 5cents recent experience :)   Teurf

What am I missing? Thai sauce (3-21-14 new info)

This website is awesome! I have done their curry pastes and recipe many times its awesome. Well worth finding the kaffir lime leaves also!   I would second you with the Prawn Paste. It smells awefully bad but changes totally the taste of the dish into a great authentic thai recipe. Teurf

I'm glad to see more and more people in the North to grow the hotties.   You sure like a lot of heat with that extensive list of supers :fireball:   Have you had some success growing rocotos in the last years? I read that they somewhat like a little colder climate :)   Good luck on your grow...
