    Dramatic upward leaf curl

This bell has done this since i put it out. Probably 2-3 months. None of the other varieties share the same issue and they are packed kinda close. Also I figure if it were mites? wouldn't they have spread quite quickly to all the other plants seeing as its been months? Soil should be similar...

    Air drying peppers

I'm hang drying a good bit of red cayenne right now. Only 2 showed rot. I tossed the one that was pretty bad but just cut the bad part off the other and it continued drying perfectly fine.    I'm on the coast in florida so no outside drying for me unfortunately but a sunny window works well.

    breeding Hybrid questions

Gotcha. Kinda gathered that much but I'm seeing in many of the seed stores online that they don't mention what kind they are.   Is it safe to assume that seeds you buy and harvest will be stable from season to season unless noted otherwise?

    breeding Hybrid questions

I'm a first year grower and like the idea of managing my own seeds from year to year. Retaining the best of the best seeds from generation to generation. Potentially playing around with crossing in the future.   I'm playing with a very basic selection this year. (jalapenos, bells, cayennes...

    price for powders?

Id start with a price / weight comparison with what is sold in stores. Of course home grown product will be much more fresh so at that point you could either tack on 10-20% or give them a friendship discount vs what you'd charge retail?   But i'd imagine that would be a good starting point.

    Cold Frames

Ok looks like no one bit. After doing more reading it seems like a cold frame will only raise temps 15-25 deg max. Im guessing thats with fully insulated top notch construction. Even then I'm guessing peppers would die in the best case scenario at 40 deg...much less at night.   I'm going to look...

    Cold Frames

I live in 8b (15-20 deg in the winter). Was looking up options to dig up, pot, and overwinter. Seems like the benefits are pretty awesome.   I stumbled onto cold frames though... Couldn't i save myself the trouble an build a large temporary cold frame that i could reuse season to season? That...

BY topping and pruning I've created a monster

That makes sense. So technically the plant A fruit that was pollinated from plant b will most likely produce a normal "plant A" fruit but you will have to replant the seeds from that fruit to see what characteristics blended?

BY topping and pruning I've created a monster

Hate to hijack but im new and could use the clarification.   "Say you cross Pepper X and Pepper Y with X. The fruit from that plant is now Pepper XY. Plant a seed from Pepper XY - that is F1."   What specifically is the "crossing" process? Cross pollination?    A more specific example...  ...

    container Containers vs. Raised Beds

Ground garden here. It's my first year in this patch but I am trying the mulching methods from that "back to eden" documentary.    Will likely double the in ground garden next season and then add pots as well next year.   Trying to get the spacing down.... after following suggested spacing of...

    Pepper damage!

UPDATE   Found the culprits...   Tomato plant nearby is infested with what im guessing are "army worms".   Video below. This was just a few leaves worth from the tomato plant. I hand picked about 30-40 so far. 1-2 stragglers made it over to a few peppers. Looks like BT is a nice fix but lowes no...

    Pepper damage!

Yea sounds like I just need to do a night OP...     also I just googled it after you mentioned "Asiatic brown beetles"...   I have seen 3-4 of these larva while prepping the beds... Looked very similar.

    Pepper damage!

Appreciate it. I'll keep an eye out for em. I was a little reluctant to point the finger at slugs / snails. Just haven't seen them here in NW FL like I have in other states. No slug trails or even snails from what I've seen while gardening here.   Beer trap might work to at least trap some...

    Pepper damage!

Sooooo I'm stumped! I tried to do some investigation and didn't come up with much. No better place to come than here for answers.    Some of my peppers are being eaten and I can't quite figure out what the culprit is.   My best guess is flea beetles because of the round holes INSIDE the leaf...

New to forums - Growth question

The soil im using is just miracle grow potting soil. I have not added anything other than water. Wasn't sure I would get to that point before needing to move them out to the yard. (target height ~6+ inches)   I had some from the first batch I moved out which curled. I corrected it but they...

New to forums - Growth question

Yea initially I overwatered and ran into damping off issues. This is round 2 lol. I read online that they need to dry out a bit and "wilt" prior to watering again. Is this what that looks like? The top of the soil is crusty but deeper down is still damp/moist. I really wasn't sure.   I even...
