    Sulsa's 2022 grow log

That's too bad! They sure are nice plants and good looking pods too. I still have a rio hualaga going that started to set fruits, hoping this plant will give me some nice and tasty pods! I might give the red ones a shot next year, i've seen them in the collection of semillas.

    Sulsa's 2022 grow log

Picked one of the rocoto mini choco today. Plants are loaded with dark brown pods, but since i never grew a pubescens before i haven't got a clue when to harvest them. They don't seem to color up any more but are still quite hard to the touch. This pod tasted quite bland and greenish. It was...

    disease Guidance needed

There is nothing wrong with them, just a little tanning going on. The plant reacts to the sun exposure by making some anthocyanin on the exposed side of the fruit. They will ripen just fine!

2022 - too early to get started...

Capsaicin can cause bloodpressure drop and the irritation on your stomach could have led to some postprandial hypotension, that together with the heat maybe made your brain reset for a moment? I ate 2 big whole habanero red last year that made me lie on the floor gasping for air and drowning in...

    issue Ancho negro issues

That makes sense! I've been thinking about that also, mostly in the direction of some alternaria strain. The plot has not seen much capsicums in the past but plenty of potatoes, so some alternaria in the soil sure is possible. Strangely there are no other signs of it on the plant itself, they...

    issue Ancho negro issues

Anyone here any experience growing ancho negro? I'm growing them for the first time and they are doing great, but i have a lot of issues when it comes to ripening. Plants produce nice shiny green pods, but when the colors start to appear everything seem to go wrong. Either they fall of the plant...

    Sulsa's 2022 grow log

Up to now things are going great, hoping that the weather in fall will be equally good up here in the north! Hoping that the weather in your neck of the woods will become a bit more pepperfriendly! You still got a few months to go, so plenty of time to make up for a sucky spring! 🍀 Not bad...

    Sulsa's 2022 grow log

Every now and then i take some plants out of the jungle to do some grooming and some close up inspections. Today i took out the O.W. Habanero red. It's her second year now and she's getting quite big horizontally and is loading up with pods very well. These pods are very hot to me, but after the...

    Sulsa's 2022 grow log

Time for a little update from the Netherlands. Just had two weeks off work to do some painting on the house and restoring my dormers. A lot of work, but it all looks brand new again! Not much happening on the pepperfront, just a lot of watering and waiting on some colored pods. Most plants throw...

disease Leaf curling and chlorosis on my habanero

No it didn't have those symptoms and it does not look like advancing Phytophthora too. Then you would have round watery spots on the leaves or sections of the stem becoming watery and rotten. Sometimes you just have to wait a while and see how it develops. I had lots of issues this spring, but...
