Giving the fact you are in Panama right now, why look for seed sources when you clearly are at the source of the Aji Chombo pepper? Bring some seeds!!! 😁

flavor What would be your Greatest Hits of pepper flavors?

While reading this tread there were a lot of peppers going trough my mind. A lot of chinense came to mind like Adjumas, Bonnets, goats, carribean reds etc. But after reading the last two posts above i started wondering, what if... you were to be send to some island and you could only take one...

    seed-train European Seed train...

Count me in for another stop in the Netherlands! Question: How does this train operate? Is it a one way ride and at the end back to the first in row or does it travel on a return ticket or is there a train A and B? Been scrolling some pages, but couldn't find it and didn't wanna look trough...

flavor Evaluating our 2023 pepper's ?? How do you ??

I always start out with eating a raw pod, First nibble at the bottomside to get a good taste and smell of the aroma and after that a big chomp of pod with placenta to get a sense of the heat. After this i get a pretty good idea of how to use them, Floral/tropical flavors for the...

    flavor Best flavoured pepper(s) 2023

For me the frutescens have a very unpleasant type of heat. I can chomp down a chinense with relative ease and although it burns a lot i like it, but with frutescens i often feel quite bad after eating them. Very aggressive in your face type of heat! On topic: This years best flavoured peppers...

    Sulsa's 2023 Glog

Weather finally catched up with the season. Temperatures dropped (often below 10C ) and perpetual rains has started! Really had enough of the constant pepper processing so i took down most of the plants. Harvested all the pods that showed any sign of coloring, most of them finished coloring by...

issue What are these orange-ish streaks on my Anaheim peppers?

Might be TSW virus, although the shape of the lesions is a bit odd for TSWV Location on the pod and shape of the lesions look more like blossom end rot, but in that case the spots would go brown/black and mushy quite fast! Hard to say for sure, but i would discard the plants just to be sure!

    misc Jalapeno quest failed?

Always easy to put blame on the past but the mexicans almost had 2 centuries to shape their society and shed all the bad that came from colonialism. It has proven to be not so easy though. On the other hand the colonial era has shaped the pillars for some deeply rooted issues that...

    misc Jalapeno quest failed?

I've been eyeballing the Mucho nacho for a while. With such a name they must be good right? I will look into the Emerald Fire! That's a sad thing! What's wrong with consumers nowadays? I will prefer taste over looks anyday! Zapotec is still on my wishlist. Don't mind if they are a...

    misc Jalapeno quest failed?

From the moment i started growing peppers i set out on a quest to grow my own tasty jalapenos. Tired of all those tasteless supermarket jalapenos i figured i had to grow them myself to obtain that true jala flavor. I've been growing them for a couple of years now, tried several varieties and...

pod Now my "Black Aztec" are turning green.

If i'm not mistaking Azteco peppers are supposed to ripen from black through brownisch green and end up red when fully ripe.

soil Dormant potting soil and re-energizing it for spring (??)

You're right... leaving the soil in the pots and jamming some fall leaves in there will not work! In order to decompose the fall leaves wich are quite "woody" there will have to be sufficient nitrogen, oxygen and some hyperactive soil microbiome. All of these are hardly present in your potting...

    Sulsa's 2023 Glog

That's exactly what i was thinking! 😅 Some are used fresh, but most are bound for the dehydrator and freezer though. Dried peppers are used for making all kinds of spicy powders and ofcourse all that jars full of colorfull dried peppers makes my kitchen look good. The most beautyfull pods are...
