I started several varieties this year from seeds that I bought in 2015. I even had 100% germination on a couple of them: 3/3 for Fish pepper and 4/4 for Aji Rosita. The seeds were stored in the fridge for part of the intervening years.

So long as you are able to provide favorable growing conditions (good lighting, nutes, temperatures) your pepper plants will keep chugging along. As you said, they are perennials.

Yes, I have seen that before with PDN, and on some other varieties as well. It is just a little anthocyanin in the roots; I wouldn't worry about it.

I have never had an issue receiving seeds from Hippy Seed Co. Shipping usually took a couple of weeks or so, before the pandemic.

    I doubt it. The calyx in the first picture looks a bit big for a typical chinense variety. I think it is more likely to be an annuum variety. Are you getting multiple pods/flowers per node? Pics of the plant and flowers could help verify the species.  

    To me, that last one looks more like the red Scorpion strain from CARDI than it does the Butch T.   The others might be mislabeled or they could be accidental crosses. If the farmer is as disorganized as you say, he might not be isolating his plants very well, or at all.
