organic One of my Devil's Brain plants is producing all purple pods

The purple is fading on that first pd, so it looks like they'll probably turn red and look very much like the other 4 devil's brain plants I have going. Even the purple ones resemble what the photos at WHPs show... except they start purple! Lol So we'll see in another week or two. They are...

organic One of my Devil's Brain plants is producing all purple pods

One of my five Devil's Brains doesn't look like the others! Purple leaves, purple stems, and purple pods. I knew it was an oddball by the time it fully put out its first set of true leaves, but thought it might just grow out of it. It never did. Some of the pods have been full grown for a...

indoor Christmas harvest and the first harvest ever for me indoors!

Yeah I cried a bit, considering it's been up for years with the same soil undisturbed all that time. Anyway, I'll be starting a new one; this time maybe using one of those Grassroots "Living Soil Raised Beds". I might even go for the 4X8 one. The workshop in the photo is huge, and already...

indoor Christmas harvest and the first harvest ever for me indoors!

Sorry for the late reply. Moving/renovations have kept me pretty busy lately, as was setting up the garden last month - and still working on both! I plan on dying in the new house because I abhor moving so much. Lol I had to dismantle my indoor setup. I brought all the soil with me through...

    Anybody else growing cannabis?

In Canada here the same thing, and I love it! I've made many umm... barter trades for it too, including getting my kitchen redone for free labour. LOL BTW, the wife and I just sold that kitchen and we're now in the new house. There are 52 pots of peppers outdoors that we transferred over to...

water What is the best type of water to use for the pepper plants/seedlings?

I would not give plants municipal water that I wouldn't drink myself. I lived in Jacksonville for 3 years for work long ago, and there was something seriously wrong with the water. It smelled really bad, and tasted even worse. It took me one try to figure out why bottled water was so popular in...

water What is the best type of water to use for the pepper plants/seedlings?

I know we're not supposed to get political here, so I'm sorry for that :( But yeah, I use tap water for my indoor tent plants too but let it sit for 48 hours before using it. It's very high pH (8.4) but after it sits for 48 hours it drops a full pH point. It's good enough without adjustments.

water What is the best type of water to use for the pepper plants/seedlings?

Due to current events, I'd instead suggest Alberta vodka like this one: https://www.albertaicevodka.com/ This is what I'd like Alberta pipelines to carry in the future to the rest of Canada once the fossil fuel industry dies. Lol

    health Progress So Far

The Pro-Mix HP is a great substitute for soilless coco when growing cannabis and you need to water with nutes every day as usual. I did hydro before like this, but gave it up over a decade ago. It was just too much work with pH and EC meter checks everyday. These days I just use the Pro-Mix...

    health Progress So Far

The discoloration is likely the plant making pigments like anthocyanins to protect itself from sunburn. It often happens when you have a bit too much light on them, and some phenotypes are more sensitive than others. Either dim or raise the lights a bit and eventually new growth should look...

pics I decided make Jamaican Habanero + Ghost pepper Camembert cheese

As @dragonsfire mentioned, these bloomed cheeses are among the easiest ripened cheeses to make. There is no need for a cheese press, they take only about 4 to 6 weeks from milk to finished cheese, and other than having to remember to turn the cheese, the labour is minimal. That's not to say...

pics I decided make Jamaican Habanero + Ghost pepper Camembert cheese

I prefer a more stable "grocery store style" camembert. That means cutting the curd and stirring to remove more moisture than usual before dumping it into the hoops. Basically I follow the same procedure as this recipe as featured on Gavin Webber's video except for that part. Oh, and of...

lighting What color LED light should I used for my seedlings?

Regular screw in LED light bulbs that can be bought at Walmart, Dollarama, Costco, and even many corner convenience stores work very well. A mix of (mostly) daylight and (some) warm white work great. No hood or reflector is necessary. Just be sure to pop off the plastic diffuser covers for more...

pests Best flowers to plant with pepper plants?

Clover is an incredibly good pollinator attractant. Clover will also add free nitrogen to your soil without you having to pay for it. There are others in the legume family that will also attract. So if you mix 'em-up you have flowerings throughout the year. That includes overlooked things like...

    Anybody else growing cannabis?

@Uncle Eckley, I can see you have experience at this. Lol This is exactly the way to do it though. It's amazing how much bud you can grow in a small space if you fill that space wall-to-wall with colas. In another 4 weeks, those are going to start looking very, very nice.

    Anybody else growing cannabis?

I'll try be gentle. Lol It's too early. Preflowers usually start showing once the leaf nodes are staggered rather than opposite. While on a veg light schedule, most plants have to be about 5 weeks old before that starts happening. Some strains can take 8 weeks though. The preflowers will...

indoor Christmas harvest and the first harvest ever for me indoors!

Hot sauce making day! I decided I had enough peppers with today's record harvest, along with a couple freezer bags full I've been gradually saving from this grow: Destemmed and chopped up the total weight was 2,516 grams. I added some black garlic I made, along with regular garlic, one large...

container What to put at the top of my pots?

Outdoors in a climate like yours I'd go for arborist wood chips. Plus being free to a lot of people sure makes for an attractive price. 7 to 10 cm wouldn't be too thick, so don't skimp. :P

indoor Christmas harvest and the first harvest ever for me indoors!

Watching these ghost pepper pods ripen is worse than watching paint dry. I'm almost getting a little impatient. Here is the same pepper now that it's been ripening for more than a week after the last photo (taken minutes ago): A couple of these look more ripe, but it could be the lighting...
