Devv- you and I have different climates. My climate is also very hot but its also very humid. Lately its been about 85% humidity. I think its amazing that Purple Thunder is doing so well in both of our extreme climates. Many variety's can't take extremes like this. Your plants look just...
On my plants the insects are few and far between. I rarely see insects. I think the insects taste those spicey peppers and they hit the road. The pods are basically not edible to the insects.
Here are my foto's that show the sun scald on selected pods.
Its the last entry on my thread.

Devv-I have pods with holes in them also. Not many. Do they start out with a kind of brown spot on the pod? I have a few with obvious insect related holes. I also have the other deal where it starts out kind of brown in color and its on the sunny side of the pod. Usually it is on pods that...
Devv, I know its confusing because there are so many different variants. I have one mystery plant growing and it ripens a nice yellow.
Its a nice plant and the pods are a nice fairly clean yellow color. Paul liked the look of the pods.
I have a Purple Thunder 3-that is all green. The pods...
Ok, I managed to get out there and snap some foto's and pick some ripe pods.

There is quite a few photo's so its probably better that I am posting a link to them so it doesn't look like I am trying...
No, you saw the last ones I posted. I am waiting for more pods to ripen. They take a long time to ripen compared to other species.
Tomorrow I will try to snap a few pod foto's.
The plants are doing excellent and have done excellent in the hot climate and serious hot sun. They really...
I have a few adult Purple Thunder specimans in large pots here in Panama that are about 120 days old. They have purplish leaves but are not dark purple at all. I guess you would call it a purple tint. The stems and branches are a nice dark purple. The sun here in Panama is very bright and...
I agree with the commenter that if you were pickling, frozen peppers might not be a good choice. However, I mentioned that I make a kind of paste. A paste does not require the use of crispy peppers. I will probably pickle some and freeze some of my peppers this season. I also plan to try...
I like to shred my super-hot chili's in the food processor with a little vinegar to make a kind of paste. I just add a little salt and maybe a little sugar in this. Would frozen chili's be good used this way? I have a lot of chili's coming in now and they have to be frozen so I was just...
Dev, your plants look pretty fantastic. Just so you know, I think thats a good idea to name the green specimans Green Thunder and then whatever variant it comes from. Mine will hence forth be named Green Thunder number 3. I suppose yours will be called Green Thunder mystery. I noticed that...
For my grow I am using plain yard dirt. Its all I had.
If you go to youtube and look up Bhut Jolokia you can find video's of Indian growers. Many are growing right in the plain dirt.
Its all they have in most cases. Sometimes they add organic material to the soil if they have it.
Bhut...
PTMD989-As far as the rain goes. No, its mostly just constant cloud coverage like living in a nuclear winter. The rain comes and goes and can come at any time of the day or night. I would say that rarely we get thunder and lightning.
Mr Joe- the seeds were planted towards the end of...
Ok, Good Afternoon to everyone who is participating in the Purple Thunder Community grow. I can't post foto's yet but I do have this link to offer so you can go to my grow log on a different forum. There is recent foto's.

Today I harvested Purple Thunder ahi's!!!!! First of the season. I live in Panama so I was able to plant the seed Paul sent the same day I received it. I planted at the end of December of 2019. Plants are about 100 days old now. I was able to harvest one PT 3, Three PT 3-green variant, and...
Those seedlings are very nice. I see you have some greeny's. I have a green PT 3. In fact, my greeny already has ripening fruits and right now it looks like the fruits will be a citrus orange color. Just beautiful. Will you be planting those fella's in the ground or in Pots? If you plant...
Beautiful young purple plants!!! The indoor grown seedlings seem to be so much more purple!!! Good job. If you eventually get those baby's into large 10 gallon pots they will be monstrous!!
Devv, that plant looks identical to the PT3 purple specimen I have growing. The pods look pretty close to what I am seeing here as well. There is slight variation. The pods are fairly smooth and have purple shading hints. My PT3 Green specimen has entirely different style of pods. They are...
Devv, your plants look awesome!!! Did you notice any all green specimans? I have a PT 3 all green speciman in a 10 gallon pot with a purple PT 3 speciman. The green speciman began to form pods earlier and the pods are all green also. The green plant has no purple ribbing or purple stalks or...
