    PeriPeri's Grow 2018: South Africa

The Biquinho Vermelho is starting to show some colour - yay!       Chilhuacle Negro     My 7Pot Browns are a bit confused. I have orange pods that look like they could be 7Pot brown phenos and brown pods that look more like Nagas/Nagalahs         Mulato Isleno     Borge9 X Long    ...

    PeriPeri's Grow 2018: South Africa

These are the Aji Verde. When I first got them I called them the Condom chillies as we did not know what they were :) These are not very hot, but great to use for salsa verde or also when red.     I managed to figure out the unidentified chilli plant - the Assam. It's interesting how the green...

    PeriPeri's Grow 2018: South Africa

Ok, the thing with the brown spots on the chillies has not gotten worse since I added the copper soap and switched off the irrigation. It is sad to see pods like this though :(

Thai Orange producing day by day. These are quite mild compared to some of the hotter Thai chillies.     The Thunder Mountain Longhorn is ripening nicely. Pods dry really well - I would like to smoke these and make a powder... which is how these are traditionally prepared apparently. These are...

Aji Cristall are ripening up finally - almost there     For some reason, the Bulgarian Carrot has been struggling all season.     The Carolina Reaper x JPGS is looking cool. It has a sort of salmon/orange colour - can't wait to try this one :)     Rocoto Costa Rica Yellow     Rocoto...

The Scotch Bonnet Freeport Orange too were really tasty and just nice easy going heat.   The Trinidad 7Pot Jonahs though were just bad boys... very tasty but way up there melt your face off hot.   After I sprayed with the copper soap, I did turn off the irrigation, so there has been no...

So I did the taste test on the Trinidad 7Pot Jonah X UFO Orange - magnificent flavour. A very tasty pepper, citrus/orange rind flavours, sweet - just perfect heat... I like this one a lot!

    Stickman's 2018 Soil Mineralization Glog

Awesome Rick! I do love onions and the only thing that has put me off is how long it takes for them to grow. Almost a year for regular onions. I have never hear of long/short day onions. I don't think they sell those here - I may have to do some research!

    PeriPeri's Grow 2018: South Africa

Thank you Scott. Heading to the farm now - pitch black outside, but want to beat the traffic! It is weird isn't it? It's a first for me too! There has also been quite a few pods growing within pods. I guess the watering was a big problem that one week. You know, we don't get a lot of rain...

    PeriPeri's Grow 2018: South Africa

Hi Dane, thank you for this info - I did not know this. I was surmising that something was missing to cause seeds to germinate in the  pod, but water is probably the culprit here for sure. There has been too much!   Urghhh! I am at the chopping chillies again - this is the part I do not enjoy.

Kurtovszka Kapia   Scarlet Lantern Peru - not as hot as a red Habanero, but also amazing flavour... sweet and delicious!   Marconi Red... I think a bit smaller than I anticipated, but tasty as!

Those Antillaise Caribbeans were fantastic. Wow, that smell and flavour were just heaven. I'm not one for habaneros, but these were really awesome!

    PeriPeri's Grow 2018: South Africa

De-seeding pretty much all day today :banghead:   Came across the Chilcostles. I have never seen as many germinated seeds growing in a pod as this one pod I opened. I thought chillies/peppers had chemicals inside the pods to prevent this from happening... what a waste of seeds - I have to...

    vendor Jaunitos Peppers

I said I would follow up with feedback on Juanitos seeds once the grow season was under way - but things got a little side tracked! All I can say is super quality seeds. Of all the seeds I germinated this season (and there have been lots - form 4 or 5 different vendors), Juanito's seeds had...
