Red MOA Scotch Bonnets Community Grow

KD I love that picture. I believe that the red MoA does exist, and you grew it, that picture tells says it, however, the gentleman who started this glog stated the seeds came from cmpman1974 who got them from Judy, the seeds that everyone is growing is not what you grew from the seeds that I...

Red MOA Scotch Bonnets Community Grow

I have good reason to beleive that the "red MoA" is acually a hybrid between a yellow scotch bonnet and a red 7 pot. I have three "red MoA" plants. 2 plants give me red 7 pot looking pods. 1 plant that gives me yellow pods that look a little like scotch bonnets. 95% of the pods only have 3...

chinense Scotch Bonnet X 7 Pot Jonah

Thanks Jamison. I might add that the flavor of this hybrid is unsurpassed. I spent 5 minutes sniffing a fresh opened pod. I can't put my finger on it, I want to say floral, citrus, sweet cantaloupe is what I came up with. Heat about 500k. Honesly a new favorite for me. I did cross 16 sb7j...

chinense Scotch Bonnet X 7 Pot Jonah

Scotch Bonnet-Foodarama is what crossed with the 7 pot Jonah in Patrick's back yard. I am currently growing some f? from Vladan's Rainbow Chillies. Bumpy gnarly 4-5 lobed red scotch bonnets. I sent Jamison some pics and he will be posting them soon.

    chinense FtL scotch bonnets

Great topic Dennis. I have a few FtL scotch bonnets growing right now. Your pods have interesting shape/texture. The original pods were yellow, four lobed, and had a beautiful cup-and-saucer shape to them. Excellent flavor. I look forward to see how they grow out. Steve

    MoA Jamaican scotch bonnets....

Your seed stock produces these beautifully symmetrical 4 lobed, cup-and-saucer, golden bonnets with such consistancy, your seeds given out should be renamed 'Scotch Bonnet-Jamison' !

    MoA Jamaican scotch bonnets....

Great question. There is no difference. It is a regular scotch bonnet. The moniker "MoA" or Ministry of Agriculture, just indicates where it came from. It happens to be a fine strain of regular scotch bonnet.

    MoA Jamaican scotch bonnets....

Jamison has the most isolated MoA seed in the US! He's a good man! I never really left, just haven't contributed in a while. No more desk top or photobucket, just the cell phone. That's proper MoA in the making. You've got the goods my friend..

    MoA Jamaican scotch bonnets....

As the plant growth stabilizes you will get more "A" pods.

    MoA Jamaican scotch bonnets....

I'm no expert but I will call Grade A on that pod. Who did you get the seeds from? Ramon stock?

    PIC 1's............Pod-ography.............2013

Yes, I agree that the red FDA is a great addition of chinense flavor without over powering the dish. Red scotch bonnets are  definitely in Jamaican markets. There are also red scotch bonnets at the Ministry of agriculture. They are rare. But yes, true red scotch bonnets do exist.   Job is going...

    PIC 1's............Pod-ography.............2013

Epic harvest!!       I have prayed to the pepper gods and alas.....a perfect true red scotch bonnet!!    Greg, you are the Man!   I have grown the red fda and it is a fantastic chile, however, I do believe it to be a hybrid(so does AlabamaJack). It produced beautiful  red "flying saucer" pods...

    MoA Jamaican scotch bonnets....

Hard to pinpoint the exact reason, but I want to say that it is somewhere between a total economic collapse and the latter of just being a little stubborn.

    MoA Jamaican scotch bonnets....

Congrats to Ramon and Jamison on producing some awesome pods.    I want to say thank you to Denniz and EVERYONE else here that is helping spread this seed worldwide.   The "Only for select Jamaican farmers" will no longer apply to this high quality seed.   This strain should be a staple scotch...

    WalkGood 2013, 2014 and Beyond

Greg, I will confirm the MoA plants have relatively flat/wide stems. At first forking, these plants will fork 3-4 times instead of 2. The Ministry did a great job with selective breeding.   Ramon, love the poddage brother. I have also noticed some splitting in my pods and I believe that it's due...

Jamison's "Operation Pods" 2013 is a Mission Complete

Glad to see the plants in southern ground! I figure the bonnets will feel right at home in the clay given that Jamaica is full of clay hills.   Greg is the real sparky with over 30 years exp., I'm still searching for the "wire stretcher"! evidently it's right next to the "sky hook"! lol
