Just coco, GH Flora and fabric pots. I'm trying the fabric for the first time this year. Previous years I had used plastic pots. Neil

    Far north grow challenges

I switched to coco and hydro nutes. I also start my plants in January/February. I have been using a 180w LED light as well. I'm further north than ND, but not quite frozen tundra area. My grow season is around 90 days. Neil

    health Help! Weird Leave spots

Ah ok. I would suggest running bottled RO water with your nutrients for a bit and see if that helps clear things up. Unless you had your water tested it's hard to say what you have in the overall mixture. There could be a lot of one mineral or another that's throwing your balance off. I had a...

    health Help! Weird Leave spots

I can't see it being nute burn. That usually comes in the form of brown leaf tips first. I also run my GH at 700ppm and don't think you're quite that high using 1-1-1 per gallon. Are you using tap water? Neil

    health Help! Weird Leave spots

After some googling it looks like it MAY a manganese deficiency. That said it could be from lock out or simply not enough in the formula.

    health Help! Weird Leave spots

I've noticed the same thing with some of my plants in my GH Flora grow. I'm not sure what's missing in the formula, but things seem to have gone away in the new growth since I've stated using silica blast (mainly as a pH adjuster), calmag+ then adding the GH Flora Micro & Bloom. Neil

    Blisters 2016 LED Coco grow

Small update time. The weather has cooled off and been rather cloudy with lots of rain over the last week or so. I haven't been able to really get my plants out so they've been stretching like crazy. Then on the days that I was able to get them out, they got the bejesus burned out of them. Crazy...

pests Aphids!!! Don't go away even after spraying

I haven't had any luck with safer soap. Lady bugs is where it's at. Especially if they lay eggs. They absolutely destroy aphids. They can be a little harder to come by though. Neil

    Which Pepper in Which Pot?

It really depends. Where are you growing? Longer seasons allow for larger pots. Shorter seasons, like mine, require smaller pots. Neil

    Blisters 2016 LED Coco grow

That's exactly what I was thinking. It can only take up so much, so it would seem like you want a larger rootball and consistent access to nutrient. I'm guessing that's where drip systems really shine. You can deliver a constant supply of nutrient to the plant, but not so much that the coco is...

    Blisters 2016 LED Coco grow

Thanks Rick. Seems like the plants do best at 700 ppm and with a consistent application that allows for decent about of run off. I may try upping the nutes when they go out under the intense sun, but for the time being 700 seems to be the magic number. Neil

    Blisters 2016 LED Coco grow

I've been running a solid 700 ppm throughout my grow. I've tried upping the levels in the past, but I hadn't noticed any real improvement in overall growth. The combo of GH Micro and Bloom are working great. Neil

    Blisters 2016 LED Coco grow

Thanks guys. I think it's a combination of the LED light plus the coco and nutrient system I have them on that's really getting the results. It just seems to work. Neil

    Blisters 2016 LED Coco grow

Thanks hm01. Coco seems to working out great for my situation. I'm still a little nervous of the fabric pots, but all my eggs are in that basket this year. I'm hoping that the summer is a long hot one! Neil

    Blisters 2016 LED Coco grow

Another small update. I've been away for more than a week and my wife had been caring for the plants. She sent me these pics a few days ago. In the tub for the night. I'm down to 6 plants in total. Jolokia - I'm not sure if it's a Red or yellow though. I have both but didn't label them...
