I've got a vintage Squeezo that I've used in the past, but of late have been using the food mill attachment for our Kitchen Aid mixer with good results.
Pears make an awesome base for hot sauce. They make the smoooooothest sauce and have a light flavor and sweetness that plays well with just about anything.
I would like to hear recommendations for paprikas as well. My wife likes Alma's dried, but as everyone noted, they're not amazing producers. I tried Leutschauer Paprika this year but my family found them too spicy. Any recommendations with very low heat and good productivity?
Great time at Bowers. Fields were abundant this year. Came home with 2 coolers full of peppers! Got to sample (and go home with) quite a few great sauces too. Nice meeting thescovillekid - thanks for the jalapeno mustard. Already broke into the jar - it won't last long!
Sadly, there were...
As a matter of fact, I ate a brown moruga from my own grow right before eating a sliver of that chocolate pod from Sicman and it made the brown moruga seem like a jalapeno in comparison.
I find my SB7Js have a great flavor and are rediculously hot. Maybe they don't register high on the Scoville scale, but they have that dry, painful heat that rips you up. Good stuff.
Less than a month away now.
Things have been pretty quite about it, especially for Ajijoe saying he and James were blowing it up this year at the farm.
I'll be there early early (not Brian early, though. He's beat me there for the last 2 or 3 years). Mrs. will be with me this year too...
Thanks Jamie. I'm good at savory sauces, but sweet and fruity less so. I was thinking something fruity for these but just could get a grip on which fruits.
Looking for some inspiration. Although I've been using them all winter long, I still have a healthy stash of Cumari do Para in the freezer from my rediculously productive plant last season and I've got fresh Cumari pods ripening daily now. Any ideas for a sauce to make out of these frozen pods?
Thought I started less plants than last year and was proud of myself. But I just found a whole flat I didn't count so I guess I'm growing quite a bit more than last year. Still proud of myself
Suggestions from anyone who's grown this one?
Started some in moist seed starting mix. Soaked some in tea. Started the first ones first week of January and have done subsequent planting. Have maybe a dozen seeds in dirt. Do I need to try scarification or just give them more time?
