The top one is definitely a superhot pepper. Only time will tell if it's a reaper. The 2nd pic is a chili plant but both plants appear to be crosses or something other than reaper. I have two Reapers that are tall like your second, and a third from same seed source that looks like your first...

The Kellogg potting mix is your main problem. It's mostly bark and pine. I was really disappointed how it did with peppers and tomatoes. I used it 2 yrs straight and it's just to acidic by itself for potting mix. Often contributes to blossom end rot as well and water retention is terrible even...

Add some saucer tray/plate/pan under the pots and add extra water as needed to the saucer. The plant will wick it up as needed. Replentish as needed during the super hot days. You will use less water as it wont run out the bottom and less stress on the plant.

Dark shading or white patches are tell tale signs of sunburn or light burn. Pretty sure its first stage sunburn. 40's shouldn't cause darkening. 30's on the other hand could show some purpling in some pepper varieties. I think they will be just fine, just keep an eye on them.

Have they been exposed to sunlight? Sure looks like sunburn, or light burn from HID, lighting. Are your temps stable? Been exposed to a cold snap recently? Hard to tell but without other info, best guess from your pics.
