      That really sucks :(   Jeff H suggested, in a comment on my status update, that it might have died due to root rot. I'm thinking that he's probably correct, since the bin doesn't have any holes for drainage.

    I never considered that before. The container is a large plastic bin and I never cut any drainage holes in the bottom, so there's -definitely- a chance that was the cause :( Thankfully I've made efforts to add drainage holes to my other containers (at least most of them - a few left to go).
