It sure will be interesting to see what happens if it crosses with the much larger (7 pot Jonah x pimenta da Neyde) x Trinidad Scorpion Moruga. These ripen to red with purple and have good flavor and superhot heat. I think we like similar traits. I also look for clustering. Maybe I can improve...

I ended up ordering some Cabai Burung Ungu seeds, since I really want to use it in this cross. The reason I haven't backcrossed with pimenta da neyde is due to the bad production, low heat, and taste of the pepper. However, I may want to backcross to try to get the incredibly pale yellow it...

I'm not sure C. praetermissum would be fertile. I tried about 6 years ago with no luck. Adding wild genes sounds like a good idea. I'll have to do a germination test on my c. prat seeds to see if they are viable, since so many of my stock has gone bad.   edit: I think that Cabai Burung Ungu is...

Looking for a bridge hybrid to work with c.chinese to get baccatum-like flower also with annuum purpling of the flower. What does the flower look like? Also curious to what sort of flavor profile it would have with this interspecific species. I'm aiming for beauty, heat, and flavor for my...

I'll give it a shot. Also can try to cross it with f4 Trinidad Moruga x 7 pot Jonah x pimenta da neyde crosses. Give it some heat and chinese genes and purple from annuum. Sadly my seedlings seem a bit weak. Not sure the cause. Maybe too humid here for 4 year old seeds.  I have a lot of...

That really sucks. Judy is stand up. I came here after seeing that her site is down. I was planning to order seeds from her since she has a really good reputation with me. I know she will do everyone right.

Was it really hot? My Congos are much smoother than that. Looks very tasty.

    New from Richmond, Virginia!

At the same time. I start mine indoors in February. Just make sure they acclimate to the sun (they need to build up tolerance to uv). I put them in the shade and then increase the amount of direct sunlight over time.

    top heavy carolina reaper

I hack mine down to the bottom nodes. No leaves or anything, lol. Leaves fall off by the time I bring them in. I don't want them taking up much room though. It's also good if you have damaged leaves from the weather like I do, since I leave them out there a long time (still outside atm).

Cool, I've grown 4 of the 5 here. They all do great. Ancho should too! You can definitely do it.

    New from Richmond, Virginia!

Hello from VA Beach! We can grow any pepper in VA. My Carolina Reaper, bhut jolokia, wild species, and others are still alive. They're not producing atm and I'll have to take them in before it gets too cold though. Both are 2 years old.

frutescens "Chunpepe" a delicious wild C.frutescens from Honduras

@cloudhand I'm having good results with the 7JPN x Moruga cross as well. It needed that extra cross for flavor, imo. I'm going to try to cross it with a donne sali this year to decrease the size (I want small, compact plants for my aerogarden) and genetic diversity. It's too bad the Chunpepe is...

frutescens "Chunpepe" a delicious wild C.frutescens from Honduras

I got mine from Nigel. Didn't know they were crossed. They tasted so good. That's unfortunate, but it might be worth stabilizing. Were your pods also erect?

    pod Pod ID please.

Definitely a capsicum annuum. Looks like it could be a Thai pumpkin.
