    GA GH's Garden 2013

I've been going to the wrong flea markets!   Great looking pods you were moving out, I'm sure people who are into it were really happy.

I tried to take a dragonfly picture earlier today too, and those dudes are just too fast once they get going.    Great looking pods! The poblanos look perfect. Great choice of pepper, those guys are awesome when they are ready.

    Stefan_W's 2013 Pods A-Ripenin'! Glog

I'm glad to hear you are teaching your daughter all about gardening. Gotta keep raising the kids well :)  +2 :) I had some jalapenos that I needed to use up, so I decided to make deconstructed poppers. By deconstructed I mean that the jalapenos are added into the fill to make a spread.   One...

Stickman's 2013 Glog - Time To Pull The Plug on 2013

I would definitely take you up on it if you were closer, but I don't have the opportunity to get away for long enough to make that happen. I do appreciate the offer though!

    Stefan_W's 2013 Pods A-Ripenin'! Glog

I was walking through my garden at lunch time and I noticed this bee sitting on a ghost pepper pod, and it looked like he was trying to decide whether to take a bite.   Don't do it, little bee! Take off while you still can!   I hope everyone is having a great long weekend :)

The MJs are fantastic! I highly recommend them.    The tomato is a Dixie Golden Giant. Most of the ones I have grown this year are about a half a pound or so, but this one was enormous.

Yup. Big corporations are there to make money. We are out to make healthy choices for ourselves and our families. If those two sets of goals line up, then it is great. If they don't, they we have to take back some control over what we are eating if we decide that sort of thing is important...

    WalkGood 2013, 2014 and Beyond

Those are gorgeous looking pods, my friend! The chocolate ones always look so good to me, but I tend to steer away from them because I like sweet undertones and my understanding is that chocolate pods are normally more toward the bitter end of the scale. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Are you planning on overwintering the rocoto too? My understanding is that they are usually a two year project to get going, and you overwinter in between. Next year it should load up with pods for you.

Aside from the cost of a chipper there is also the quality of the mulch. You don't alway know what you are getting when you buy it, but you know what is in it when you chip your own.   Great update! I still can't get over how huge those plants are. very tall and 4' wide is impressive.

    Stefan_W's 2013 Pods A-Ripenin'! Glog

I see it as values, and a way of approaching life. There is more to what we are than just hopping in a car, going to the supermarket, and picking out crappy genetically modified stuff. I love the Earthiness of growing things, and getting in touch with our nature.   I definitely agree with you...

    Stefan_W's 2013 Pods A-Ripenin'! Glog

She really loves her maters :) She is actually a bit frustrated at the amount of hots and superhot peppers this year because she can't try them all, so I am re-working my balance for next season. In the end though, this look, and the fact that she goes out with me every day for mini-harvests...

I hear ya. Do you have lots of trees handy? For mulch you try renting a wood chipper, and just make your own from pruned branches if you have enough of them. If you include the leaves and top up with compost once in a while you can end up with a no-till garden, which is always pretty cool.

    Stefan_W's 2013 Pods A-Ripenin'! Glog

Thank you very much! If you want some paprika seeds just let me know, I saved a pile of them taken from the largest and best formed pods. I was inspired by my namesake's glog, which is fantastic and I'm kicking myself for not finding it sooner, and decided to post a pic of a 1 kilo mater we...

Great glog you got here, namesake!   I love the tomato shots. I know it is a pepper forum, but I really do enjoy seeing shots of other things that people grow. And without tomatoes you don't end up with a very good pepper salsa :)

    Stefan_W's 2013 Pods A-Ripenin'! Glog

Thank you very much :) The overwintered plants really do haul butt when it comes to podding up.    I was thinking that I may not have enough paprika to last me until next year, but we'll see. I always think we need more than we actually do.    Thanks for stopping in!   I'm amazed at how things...

Holy crap, 16 yards of topsoil is a lot!    I can relate to filling up the car though. My grow is a tiny fraction of the size of yours, and I still manage to fill my car now and again :)

    vendor Pepper Joe

I have not had issues with germination with most of Joe's seeds. I have had major issues with seeds growing into what they are supposed to be. To give one of many examples, I grew a cayenne variety from Joe last year that he called "firecracker chilli." It was my second favourite pod last year...

Looks great! The mystery plant looks like a chocolate bhut, or at least that a choc bhut is a part of the mix.
