Guru's Garden - Traveling the World in Search of Peppers

Beautiful harvest! When you get the seeds back I'd love to hear how you did it.  I had some friends on a missions trip that were stopped and searched and pepper seeds were confiscated.  I appreciated the effort, but was really bummed.

Nice to see those harvests roll in for you Rick.  Those Pablanos look picture perfect.  Your plants look great.    You must get new black plastic every year for your rows?  That must really help heat up the soil.  I think that was a big problem for me this year.  Just comparing how quickly your...

Pulpiteer 2015 - New Year, New Hopes

Hey Greg! Thanks for checking in. I've missed following your amazing grows this year.  Thanks for the encouragement on the bonnets. They seem to be catching on now that we've had a bit of hot weather. I hope I'll get some good pods from them.  I think most of mine are well under 1 and a half...

That's insane. You can actually see pooled up oil on the bottom. And not a little of it either. Wow.

    Sawyer '15 - Killing frost 11/22 + pics

Man, sorry to hear about the way the season has gone.  I've moved some of mine to pots as well as the ground just did not heat up enough, I think, and my plants were small.  We had a wet, cool, beginning to the summer and it put me behind.  Great news on the sauce though!  I look forward to...

Pulpiteer 2015 - New Year, New Hopes

Thanks! I was actually confused when I called the one Scotch Bonnet a "Richardson farm".  It was actually the Schneider farm Scotch bonnet.  For some reason the names got mixed up in my head.  Anyway, here is the Schneider farm Scotch Bonnet - out of the soil (because it was growing too...

Thanks! I wish it was looking better though... I'm really thinking raised beds next year.     Thanks - I did plant some cow peas this year.  I've never grown them before, but thought they would be fun.  We'll see.   This forum is a great place to learn.  I haven't been able to be on it as much...

    food Cherry/Currant/Pepper Jelly

No problem! This is my first year getting currants and I really liked their taste in this.     Awesome! My gooseberries are just getting ripe.  The ones I have are much sweeter than currants. They would make a great jam though...

Pulpiteer 2015 - New Year, New Hopes

Sounds like your season is going really well! That's interesting about the Hawaii Beach - have you had a taste of one yet?  That would be awesome if it had flavor like either a bonnet or goat.   Things are moving right along with church - very glad to be through the first year.  We're feeling...

I haven't posted a pepper jam recipe outside of my glog for awhile now, so I thought I'd put this one here.  I really love the taste of this.  I've not had currants before, but they made a wonderful jam with the sour cherries.   Hot Cherry-Currant   Ingredients: 2 c. red currants 4 c. sour...

Very cool Rick, thanks for the info. Those gem marigolds really sound interesting. I like sweet alyssum because it attracts good guys, it seems like these gem marigolds could fit that slot as well for me and have a nice smell to them.  I'm going to have to keep them in mind when planning for...

If it is a Goronong, I think you'll enjoy it.  They were a good pepper.  They're an eastern habanero - and judging from your cooking skills you'll only have a gazillion cool ways to use them!   Yeah, I read it is only the french marigolds that put in the good nematodes, but I don't know how to...
