  1. POTAWIE

    Proper Name

Manzano means 'apple' which describes the appearence of the fruits - like small apples. Like its cousin the Rocoto, this variety has unusual black seeds which are very hard (like apple pips) and should be removed before eating. Manzano comes generally in three types, Amarillo, Rojo (Red) and...

    Proper Name

There are many C. pubescens, manzanos and rocotos are just two of them

    scovilles Most accurate scoville scale

It is by no means exact science so you will never get a truly accurate scale. Pods on the same plant can have very different readings, and growing conditions/environment can have a huge impact

    smoking Beer Can Chicken

I don't think the rub will help in the can much, except for the aromatic type herbs/spices

    Rookie Needing Clarifications

I've grown tonnes of different plants labelled as Trinidad or Tobago seasoning, some hot some mild and all different shapes. These appear to be more victims of chile taxonomy gone wrong

    vendor tomatogrowers.com

I've bought from tomatogrowers for many years and my only complaint is that they don't have paypal. I think there is already a thread here on this vendor, maybe this should be merged?

    Brain Strain vs Butch T

I believe so. I think I originally got my ButchT scorpion seeds in the fall of 2006 from someone on the old MSN forum. I think it may have been Kato. A little of topic but whatever happened to Kato. I remember his wife wasn't well last I heard. I hope all is well.

    Brain Strain vs Butch T

Ya, there seems to be a good tasting Butch T variety going around now too, or maybe that also has to do with growing conditions/environment? What I can say is my mid summer and greenhouse grown plants seem to have much hotter pods than in the cooler seasons. Sometimes I actually prefer the...

    smoking Beer Can Chicken

After you try the beer can approach, you may want to buy a "throne" instead of using the can. They come in many different designs and make things a lot easier. I'm hoping to do a couple on the smoker this weekend if the weather co-operates :)

    The Trinidad Moruga Scorpion pepper

For the record, it should really be called Trinidad scorpion Moruga blend(TSMB) since the original seed source asked for this name to be used

    Brain Strain vs Butch T

Canadian grown Butch Ts are the hottest I've ever eaten, although I've never tried MS grown BTs

7 Pod Brown - pod test

Was there any flavor, or just heat!

    Moruga Scorpion or hybrids?

The original seed source in Tobago asked for them to be called Trinidad scorpion Moruga/Morouga blend and I would encourage others to respect these wishes Moruga red and yellow are maybe somewhat more hab shaped but I certainly wouldn't call them "plain habanero type"

    No heat Super Hots

I always imagined a heatless fatalii, but I don't think its really possible to keep the flavor. Heat seems to somehow affect flavor

    BUBBLEGUM 7 POD TEST

I guess thats my point, most people are calling the TSMB a Moruga when there is already a Moruga(red and yellow) variety. I doubt its the Moruga red which is not a super-hot and is not really very popular with hot-heads.

    BUBBLEGUM 7 POD TEST

Nice. I just have to add some of my observations on this I think its actually a TSMB(Trinidad scorpion Moruga blend) X yellow 7. Morugas(red and yellow) are totally different varieties. What do you mean by the one f2 grew true? You mean it looked like the f1? Ideally you'd want to grow out...

    No heat Super Hots

I've tried many sources of Trinidad seasoning, Tobago seasoning, and Aji dulces, and every one was very different, some very hot, some very bland. I'd recommend getting seeds from someone who can tell you how their particular variety grows and tastes. I personally was not impressed with any...

Have you tried more than 1 pod?

    No heat Super Hots

It seems to me that you can't really get much C. chinense flavor without the heat
