    Ginger

No pics, but now my ginger is really starting to take off. About 15 plants are up. They look healthy, but a bit yellow. I don't *think* it's too much moisture, but I should check that. Unsure if there could be missing nutes. I composted the bed...

    Scandinavian / Viking Peppers?

The greater question may be: how would Vikings have used hot peppers if they'd had them? Chomp them before battle? Use them for some bizarre sacrifice ritual? <shiver>

    Wet weather

Took a tour of the garden today. The in-ground peppers are downright sad looking, but fighting the good fight. The potted ones are doing better. It's not that my beds don't drain well, it's just there's been so much rain. If it dries up, I think these peppers will recover - most of them - but...

    Hot weather

Since they're mobile, I would move them. If they're already hardened off, you should be good. But if you can't water them, I would say giving them a bit shade will help.

    Rain: More or less, change?

A lot more spring rain, milder summer temps. A later-starting summer, fewer scorching days.  Autumn seems to be around the same. A later-starting winter.  More winter precipitation toward late winter.

    Wet weather

Some of my beds may be more depleted than others, as well. Overall, they're holding up pretty well. One bed in particular is the pits, so maybe it is a lack of nutes. The pots are mostly good, too, but a bunch of my superhots are flagging a bit. Hopefully, they turn a corner. I sometimes forget...

    First time considering figs.

Trees give you what you need right away. In our region, it's best to have started cuttings already, but you can do it if you want. I start cuttings between January and March, so they have enough growth to be set outside.    Chicago Hardy is a good start and easy to find. You should be able to...

    Wet weather

My peppers did ok last year, but it was very wet and mild. It seems to be shaping up the same way. Here in NJ, I can't get out the cycle of wet and gray. Most of the last 3 weeks seems to have been rain of some kind. This did in my tomatoes last year. The peppers were mostly ok, but definitely...

    Ginger

Checked yesterday. Only a couple stems are up. I'm guessing it's ok. I may need to keep on top of watering a bit more. We've had a couple days of rain/cooler weather followed by hot and dry.

water Help! Underwatering, Overwatering, Heat Stress?!?

They look ok to me, if not late. How long have they been indoors now? I know they're new sprouts, but to be safe, I wouldn't put them in direct sun. Let them get sun- and wind-hardened in a sheltered spot before moving them out in the open.

If Gardening a Family thing for you?

My parents had a garden when I was a kid and I had to help. And inadvertently learned how to garden. When I bought a house, it's the first major project I did (after painting) - installing a garden. Two years later, another garden was put in; could still use another, but have no more room (about...
