Highalt's 2013 Grow - End of Season Wrap Up

Thanks, Scott!!!   Oh, Rick, I thought of a couple more:   Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa)  - Mine are about to bloom, should be able to post a pic soon. Mullein (Verbascum)   Both of those do well because they are tap rooted.

Highalt's 2013 Grow - End of Season Wrap Up

I was thinking the same thing on the Fatalii, that maybe it was just a a first pod thing.   Especially with all the stress the plants were in right after being put in the ground.   On the Jamaican Hot Yellow, my germination records say that I received the seeds for that from KingDenniz via...

    contest Growdown,,Tallest plant!!!

Guess I'm a glutton for punishment posting right behind Shane again, but here is the latest pic of my contender wanna be.   He's missing a few leaves, but does have a couple of buds on him.     If you look at the Aji Dulce next to it, it actually looks pretty big, but it's probably only 2' tall...

Highalt's 2013 Grow - End of Season Wrap Up

Thanks, John!  I started the annuums a week earlier this year, and it has made a big difference.  The plants were threatening to take over there at the end of the indoor grow, but now I think it was worth the extra work.     "The" Fatalii     These last couple were taken here at the house.  ...

Highalt's 2013 Grow - End of Season Wrap Up

I hope you're right about that banner year!   I almost feel sorry for your MIL, Shane.   ;)   People at my house no better than to touch any of the spice jars on the top shelf!  That's were all my homemade powders go.  They are suspicious of anything that doesn't look store bought!     Thank...

    stc3248, 2013 Grow log, Season's Greetings and Season's End

Nice update!     How big do those Red Zebra's get?  I prefer a meaty tomato to one with lots of the gel, so maybe I'll have to give that one a try.   Wow, that Poblano is amazing!  I've never had much luck with them here.  They spend the first half of the season attaining their impressive...

Highalt's 2013 Grow - End of Season Wrap Up

Thanks Doc!  I am starting to see signs of recover on some of the plants, but others seem to be in a holding pattern.   UPDATE:   "The Fatalii" has a pod on it!  It dropped a few buds, but one bloom managed to set.  Yippee!  It did lose a few leaves, but I am seeing some healthy new growth too...

    JoynersHotPeppers 2013 GLOG

Okay, just caught up on the past 6 pages.  Have to say, it was a relief to see the more recent pics showing healthy new growth for you!  I can relate to the plants taking a beating right after plant out.  Mine a pitiful at the moment ...   My opinion on the leaf damage is that it is not flea...

Stickman's 2013 Glog - Time To Pull The Plug on 2013

Things are coming along nicely for you!  Yeah, I don't think that's a Mulato Isleno.  It should be more poblano-ish.  I'll have to check mine next time I go to the community garden, but not sure if any of the blooms have set yet.  What is the one in the pic right below it?

Highalt's 2013 Grow - End of Season Wrap Up

Went by the community garden on the way to work this morning, and some plants are holding up to the winds better than others.  The dark leaved ones, such as Cheiro Roxa, and Pimenta de Neyde seem to have lost the most leaves.  There's a few left on the top of the plant, but the rest of the plant...

Stickman's 2013 Glog - Time To Pull The Plug on 2013

Nicely done, Rick!   I'm embarrassed to tell you how lazy I've been in the kitchen lately!  Tonight, I threw some chicken breasts in a dish, poured a bottle of store bought BBQ sauce (gasp, the horror) over it, and tossed it in the oven.  Lame, I know, but I am cooking for kids that think Ranch...

Highalt's 2013 Grow - End of Season Wrap Up

Thank you, Rick!  It's nice to have a little break now, after babysitting those plants for so long.  I'm just doing a little watering, and pulling bindweed right now.   As soon as I can find a good deal on strawberries, I'm hoping to make a batch of Strawberry Rhubarb Jam.  I found a recipe...

    Pulpiteer 2013 Grow Log

Congratulations on the beautiful bundle of joy!  Glad to hear your wife is recovering, and the baby is healthy.   Congratulations are also in order for getting the plants in the ground with everything you've had going on in your life!   FYI,  hope you left plenty of room for that rhubarb.  They...

Highalt's 2013 Grow - End of Season Wrap Up

Thanks, Annie!  It definitely got warm today, in the mid 80's, but we still had those 20 - 30 mph winds.  The plants are looking pretty stressed at the moment, especially the ones in the veggie bed here at the house.  That bed is somewhat raised and the soil is very fast draining.  The lawn...

Highalt's 2013 Grow - End of Season Wrap Up

Of course, while I'm practically laying on the ground trying to get that Geum shot, the woman down the street comes jogging by, "Hi Bonnie!".   I guess my neighbors already know I"m a freak!   Here's how I do lunch at Bonita's Casa:     That Manzano powder isn't Lawry's, haha, I made it from...

Stickman's 2013 Glog - Time To Pull The Plug on 2013

Plants all look healthy and happy!     I haven't grown the Chinese 5 Color before, but on most of the pics I have seen, the foliage is more green than purple, so I am thinking that is a Peruvian Purple too.  Either way, a beautiful plant!

Highalt's 2013 Grow - End of Season Wrap Up

Thanks Rick, and JJJ!!!   Went by the community garden this morning, and after a low of 38 degrees, NO FROST!       A few missing leaves from the winds, but lots of tiny pods, and tons of blooms.  Pretty much everything is blooming, except the Goat Weed, True Jam. Scotch Bonnet, and the...

    stc3248, 2013 Grow log, Season's Greetings and Season's End

Love the shot of all the huge plants in colored pots lined up along the pool!  I like your priorities, making sure the peppers have irrigation, the grass ... not so much, hahaha!!!   Hey, what do you think of imgur?  Photobucket is telling me I'm at 97% of storage capacity.   I can't afford to...
