    When to pick a pepper

I will post the link tonight; I got it bookmarked at home. The other researches I've read basically say when the pod is mature and at the turning point (when color start to change) is when the pepper is at it's peak. I believe this is even truer with habanero, they have a wonderfully different...

    When to pick a pepper

I've said before maximum heat is at maturity when the color starts to change. ********************* If you like your peppers hot, don't pick them before or after their time. A new chemistry analysis confirms that the amount of hot flavor in the pepper is determined by how long the pepper has...

I'm confused you're looking for T12 F40 right? You can buy cheap ones (2$ each)at any DIY store most of them have the kelvin rating on the box. You can also put a CFL in the socket for extra light. HID lights need a mogul socket not a regular size socket.

    Growing Poppy

Mike I'm never going to steal your peppers  I did some research and found out that the resign needs to be processed by lots of chemicals before it turns out to form drug so even if a teenager sneaks into my backyard to steal my plants he won't be able to get high. Bad news is I don't...

    Growing Poppy

I saw a show last night that talked about poppy. Not knowing what they were, I order some poppy seeds a few months back thinking these would make nice flowers for the garden. I think I ordered some Poppy 'Giganteum' that's right the one grown in Afghanistan and Iran. They said it is legal to...

    water what's your water ph?

Test your tap water first. At ph 7.0 you should be fine. For some reason my tap water is at 7.5 but last year when I tested my tap water it was at 7.0 dunno if the fact that it's winter has anything to do with it or if the water cie screwed up. I'll keep testing.

    my hydro set up

Great looking plants! I find that hps makes the plants grow way to big. They grew to over 4' tall and I had to keep cutting them back. I then used an HPS and a T5 with an actinic bulb and that worked great. Internodal spacing was significantly reduced.

    water what's your water ph?

With some cheaper coir you need to wash out the salt. With the premium coir , It's already done for you. You do need to buy special coir hydro fert( that's what I used ) that contains extra micro nutrients because the coir adsorbs alot before releasing it. PH guide http://www.simplyhydro.com/ph.htm

    water what's your water ph?

That's what I'm thinking. this year with coir I had all kinds of problems likely to be nutrient deficiency. Damn it I should have adjusted my ph back then. But my stupid cheap ph pen broke. I just bought a new one. FYI don't by this crap it breaks too easily. The guy at the hydro shop warned...

    water what's your water ph?

When I did Ebb & Flow hydro last year I had good success. This year total crap out with coco coir. The major difference was with hydro, I would adjust the ph to 5.5-6.0. With coco coir I didn't bother adjusting the ph.:banghead: I took a reading of my tap water and it's at 7.5-7.7 with 134ppm...

I have yet another newbie question...

Man I love that lightstand. That's a vintage one for sure. You can tell it's an older model because it's got a regular bulb socket. If my memory is correct back in the good old days they used to supplement fluorescent light with regular bulbs or halogen because the old fluorescent tubes only...

    soil Container soil mix

1$ for 5 gallon containers .Damn I need to shop around more! I need to grow in containers because I'm moving in the house at the end of April. The previous owner did not have a garden and since I plan a major rework of the yard, I don't want to build anything permanent this year.
