Convince? Chlorine is beneficial because it is a poison. Including it in your water is keeping you safe. Chlorine in public water supply is safe and valuable. Introducing chlorine into your plants is wrong. Because you have noticed nothing, does that prove your pro-chlorine ways? Or prove...

chlorinated water Well, I have beat my kids for years and they grew up just fine. Is that your argument? Pour poison on your plants, they will still grow. So poison is good?

tap water 'The water filter thing???' You have to be making a joke. What do plants need? Water and Photons. Your dismissal reeks of poor science. Poor growing ability. Poor understanding of your plants. Why filter tap water when it raised your 19 children just fine? Ha!

    Hydro question

PPM meter PPM is your measure of how many nutrients are available to your roots. Very important. Barbie? do you talk to dolls? :) Seriously, get a cheap PPM meter and you can tell how fast your plants are using the nutrients. That is the best way to tell if they need the food or not.

chlorine The chlorine and/or chloramine evaporates over time. Easier is using a carbon filter. They are very cheap and make a world of difference.

what I need My specialty. Tap water is safer than bottled, but needs to be filtered for happiness. A hose filter is easy, cheap, and once installed will provide your plants with pure goodness. Good luck :)

    Growth rate slow or normal?

Looks like you flooded the soil and let it dry when they were started. This compacted the soil. The peppers are using most of their energy to grow roots instead of make peppers like you want. They look strong and healthy, but you were not planning on waiting three years for a mighty plant. Dig...

    Hydro question

If there is no light getting to the water, algae should be no problem. By the way, what are you using for lighting? Don't buy an expensive meter or clean the pots every two weeks. Grow the first cycle and see what you get. Remember, everything in the water goes into your body. Don't add...

I hate to see peppers in pain. Have you tried using a filter on your water? http://www.pwgazette.com/gardenhosefilters.htm I had a huge outdoor garden once and the plants loved it. There was a noticeable difference in growth and health between filtered and tap water.
