    cloning My first clone

I snapped a small jalapeno branch when we were moving due to the flood earlier this year. I figured I might try cloning just to see if I could do it in case I really need to sometime. My last few half-hearted attempts failed, or I got bored with them before anything happened. Either way, this...

    Pods Ripe

Starting to get ripening on my late starts. Some didn't break ground until the first part of March. Next year I'll get them going sooner. Choc hab is still green and congo brown just setting fruit. Aji Amarillos aren't doing much of anything except stretching. 1st ripe Thai Dragon... these seem...

    shopping Calcium product question?

The first pic looks like aphid damage when they get on the small leaves - emerging growth. The fourth pic looks like a bit of extra calcium in the ferts would straighten them out. I've seen worse. Much worse.

Which peppers do you like green or under-ripe

Oooh, I have a silly answer too! I don't like purple peppers unripe but they're delish when ripe.

    6-30-09 Pickin's

Looks like 6/30 is a popular day for harveting. :D All beautiful and shiny. Let me know how the black pearl taste and what you can do with them. I think they're going to be on next year's grow list. [edit] D'oh! Already answered the question. My connection has been crap lately.

harvesting While I was away - harvest

Yeah, she did great. If anything I think she may have overwatered. But, hey, we had heat index of 110 for several days. I found my kitchen scale and "fish hook" scale in storage today. The only peppers that remained intact were the lemons, habs and japones. Lemon Drop - 9oz Habs (combined) -...

Which peppers do you like green or under-ripe

Corked jalapenos, unripe (and ripe!) Greeks, wax get picked when I need them and seldom make it to orange this time of year. I can do red or green bells... or mixed. Green tabascos - still waiting for more than a few ripe ones of those.

harvesting While I was away - harvest

Hehee. I'm trying to replicate the greek pickling. I'm convinced these are picked unripe and on the small side due to the ease of packing in a jar... or something. Don't worry ... there's plenty of time for ripe ones later in the season.

harvesting While I was away - harvest

1 japone... a bunch of jalapeno plants, half of them in 1 gal, others in 3 gal... some misc, thai, thai dragon, tabaco (first ripe ones), and a few super chili... And almost forgot, I picked some wax today for poppers etc... Made a blender of salsa and a quart of picked jalapenos today...

harvesting While I was away - harvest

I'm back in town after a 10 pseudo-vacation. I picked anything that looked ripe or half ripe before I left, and when I got back there was this: Here's the breakdown. 2 red and 2 orange hab plants... 2 Greek pepperoncini (2+ weeks on these) 2 lemon drops (c. bac)... (cont.)

    pickling Greek pepperoncini pickle test

Taste them already! Hehehe. We ate a bunch of mine in some salad the other day. The final verdict is "just OK" on the flavor but way better on the anti-browning. The one limed pepper that had some brown seeds must have been a fluke because the others were fine. Gonna do the next harvest (soon!)...

Nah, they're kind of floppy and need a support system unless you want them to drag the ground. ;)
