    breeding Pepper crossing question

Here is what i mean about 4-#2-1 ... it is fat at the top and may pinch a bit at the bottom... but not as much as BiquinhoYellow, and occasionally get some fruits like the one of the very left where it has a normal looking tail. (btw the various dry white colors on the pods and leaves are...

    breeding Pepper crossing question

Today's new results :): One new one from my own #1 F2 line above (aka GrenadaSeasoning[yellow+notSpicy+mediumSize] x Pérola Iaranja[peach+spicy+superSmallSize]; F1 plants last year was spicy+red+mediumSize). I loved the 3-sided yellow acorn small shape of "13-#1-2"... I wanted a smaller...

    breeding Pepper crossing question

Hey @Sinder , This is mostly just a grow log for the hundreds of peppers I have in my own hybrid. You might want to open your own thread to ask as it may get lost in the many pictures i post here.

    breeding Pepper crossing question

Here is another one from my F2 #1 line (aka GrenadaSeasoning[yellow+notSpicy+mediumSize] x Pérola Iaranja[peach+spicy+superSmallSize]; F1 plants last year was spicy+red+mediumSize): Thinner profile, orange color. Has Habanero flavor but zero heat. Def has a great fruity flavor. This might be my...

    breeding Pepper crossing question

Here are two new ones from my garden... These are from F2 hybrid #2 (GrenadaSeasoning x BiquinhoYellow, F1 yellow+non-spicy parent pic is qouted below), where both the parents were not spicy, has stronger Hab-like flavor, and yellow. They also are not spicy, and have that strong Hab-like flavor...

    breeding Pepper crossing question

Got my 1st ripe one... Looks a bit like last year's F1 parent... but yellow. I would say somewhere around 5 to 7 out of 10 on the heat scale (depending how hot your heat tolerance is hehe... for me its about a 5-6). was a pleasant 3-4 on heat scale on the lower part and then 5-7 near the...

    breeding Pepper crossing question

Thanks for that info, I actually got into contact with Michael. I'll send him my results at the end of the summer. He said "The pun1^2 gene in Habanada is also in some other mild chinense. Some Aji Dulce for example."

    breeding Pepper crossing question

Something I just realized reviewing my Youtube video, Pérola laranja fruit has a slight purple blush when unripe as seen here (although the plant/leaves itself is not purple); So maybe the parents do have some purple genetics somewhere in there if this blush is considered anthocyanin...

    breeding Pepper crossing question

I'll post some pics at some point later when the seedlings get a bit bigger, but I thought it was interesting that a small percentage%... pretend 3-5% out of 100 seedlings so far have purple stems and purple-tinted leaves (which I've experienced that usually means purple fruit via anthocyanin...

    breeding Pepper crossing question

Hey @CaneDog , maybe my last question hopefully ... so many interesting questions pop up in my head :), but think this is my last important one... Would these peppers that I'm interested in re-creating with my hybrid ... AjiDulce/TrinidadPerfume/Habanada/GrenadaSeasoning... Would you consider...

    breeding Pepper crossing question

Awesome, thanks for that info. I have read those tomato genetics webpages a few times in the last month. Definitely very useful and really cool visual way to show whats going on genetically for those simple kinds of Dominant/recessive attributes :).

    breeding Pepper crossing question

Thanks again for all this info @CaneDog ! I have maybe one last question... so this years F2 generation ill be seeing lots of variation. I assume its fine of course if each individual plant self-pollinates, whether that be from: Plant#1 Flower#1's male stamen to its own (Plant#1) Flower#1 female...

    breeding Pepper crossing question

Hey CaneDog, Thanks for that info. I can kinda follow along (especially after watching this video on DiHybrid Punnet Squares to re-catchup on how to do those)... But I guess I still have a question that if my cross comes from 2 Capsicum Chinenses... then that rules out the "recessive (c or...

    breeding Pepper crossing question

I might have a question about heat-level genetics... Is that a simple Hot vs NotHot trait that I can use like a Punnett/Mendellian Square Chart to figure out, aka something like this where NotHot is a recessive trait. F1 results (manually created hybrid pepper): then upcoming F2 results...

    breeding Pepper crossing question

Btw if anyone want seeds of these crosses, let me know: Grenada Seasoning x Pérola Iaranja (F1 was red + medium-sized pointy shaped + hot; but want to stabilize very-small pea-sized shaped +'not-hot' [color doesn't matter to me, but i usually like yellow fruit more]) or Grenada Seasoning x...

    breeding Pepper crossing question

yeh the success looks like it was about 53% (on the crosses that I did on purpose, 6 out of the 12 in the video and one GrenadaSeasoning x BiquinhoYellow so 7/13). I still did some good practices like using unopened flowers on both the providing and receiving flowers. and I enclosed each flower...

    breeding Pepper crossing question

This one was label Aji Charapita (Iquitos variation), but I also had an Aji Charapita Red variation in the same tray. I am a bit doubtful I labeled wrong (or again doubtful but Charapita seeds are very small so maybe a Red seed switched locations in the seed tray after spraying with water). I...

    breeding Pepper crossing question

Here are pics of the parents for people unfamiliar with them : Grenada Seasoning (pic off internet): Pérola Iaranja (2 of my pics last summer to show the regular salmon vs more unusual red variation): Can see the colors a bit better at the end of fall/winter hehe:

    breeding Pepper crossing question

Gotcha, thanks for the info! Yeh the parents for this cross i think were pretty much very established named peppers (GrenadaSeasoning x Pérola Iaranja). I've grown the former with my own seeds for years. I grew a few Pérola Iaranja last year... I will say one of the 4 P.I.'s was red vs usual...
