Mikeg, I like your response and in truth I do not like watching anyone vomit. I guess it is a pretty raw sort of thing to see but eating whole superhots is a pretty hardcore business. Nigel talks eloquently and has burning tears and eats a superhot the way I would like to. Ted vomits which...
Hi Mikeg, I like Teds reviews. Perhaps you want to have a crack at reviewing a few dozen super hot peppers while keeping each video different and interesting? Otherwise you have the option not watch Teds reviews if they are not to your liking.
Awesome, the more the merrier. Welcome to THP!
Ultimately it will be an honour based system as anyone could win by cheating. The photos are really just for interests sake and so we can see how we're doing relatively.
I would be a fan of any of those having not grown any of them. ...
Those look absolutely awesome. They are bigger than the largest fruit on my giant rocoto.
I have 4 other pubes fruiting right now. One is about 30cm high and maybe 1.5m wide, it is crazy. One is just an insanely dense bush about 80cmx80cm (costa rica rocoto). The one in the pot is relatively...
I thought of a prize. Perhaps everyone who enters sends the winner a few packets of rare or interesting seeds. Even just with 5 or 6 of us that would be 15 types which I reckon would be awesome and won't cost most of us more than the cost of shipping.
I am glad to hear your turbo pube is...
Without being a dick to the Aussies, they have pretty different climate. I was wanting it to be about growers skill and would be gutted if some dude in Darwin thrashed us by just throwing some seeds at the dirt.
Most pod weight off plant
Based on the tallest plant grow off which was great to watch...
Time period: 1 July 2015 - 30 June 2016
Rules: Any grow technique, any medium. Only real rule is must use the same seed stock as other growers - Swampys Dorset Naga Seeds
Can grow multiple specimens and then nominate which one is...
I have bulk red bhut seeds from pepperlover. Well I have 90 seeds at least probably. I am happy to divide them by the number of folk who enter so if 9 enter we would have 10 seeds ea. I guess it depends if everyone is keen on red bhuts? Should I start a seperate thread for this?
I would be keen on a chinense or baccatum. Dorset naga sounds good as does yellow scorpion. Chocolate habanero what what cmpman1974 called his most productive chinense so it could also be a candidate.
I can't say definitively but suspect that my issues with the gnats stopped as a result of the worm casting extraction soaking I gave them. The reason I can't say definitively is I started bottom watering around that stage too. My plan of attack this year is to mix my own seedling medium...
Did you guys see the tallest plant comp on here? It was pretty cool and I was wondering if anyone would be down for the same in NZ? Basically they all grew the same type of plant and tallest won:

I kinda want pods more than a tall plant so...
Thanks Blorvak!
White bhut hiding in the leaves. Looking forward to tasting this too. I found this plant very vigorous right from germination and now it is covered in flowers and pods. I actually haven't ever tried a red bhut as in my first year I didn't grow one and last year I got bad...
These have all grown pretty well, they are much bigger than the photos I posted 2 weeks ago. Some are planted too close to one another which makes photos of the plants difficult so I took some pod images too
Red and brown morugas and a carolina reaper,
Brown moruga again

Those brown pods look cool. There is a bit of placenta in there too, maybe a hab relative.
I just picked 2 hornworms off my plants. They seem to favour the pubes at the moment. Both were quite young so it seems now is a good time to be vigilant. I noticed a few holes appearing in leaves...
Ok, that seems pretty hard out. My ideal sauce has a high pepper concentration and only additives that enhance those flavors. For me a single bhut can make a great bottle of tasty sauce, Any capsaicin addition will add heat without flavor so see if you can make your sauce without them first. ...
Thank you. Some people on this website grow huge plants which I am kinda of jealous of. That said I am having a more consistent season than last year with everything growing fairly well. Last season was a bit hit and miss and there seemed to be no rhyme or reason to it. Turns out it is all...
A fresh pod is about 80% moisture by weight, so weight for weight a dry pod is hotter. I think capsaisin can be broken down in the drying process so pod for pod the fresh one may have slightly more. n my experience the process of drying the pods also drives off quite a few of the aromatic...
Costa Rica Yellow in the garden. The top 12" is compost rich but the soil beneath is quite clay rich. I suspect the pubes are able to thrive in the clay rich soil as all of them have done well in the garden. It has a lot of flowers and although not many have set fruit yet, its rate of growth...
Time for an update. I have 4 pubes in flower, 3 in the garden and 1 in a pot:
This is a Rocota de seda in 50L of soil.
New Zealands climate seems ideally suited to pubes.
Chinense in the garden doing pretty well too:
