DO what the bag says unless the soil is old. if the soil is old there is a chance that the nutes inside the bag started to break down.making it so the plants will burn roots and or the plants will use it faster. all depends on how it was stored
watch out for bugs, just setting it in the soil can get you some critters no matter how long it be there. chances are slim but there is always that one timw!
If you watch all the videos in his how to prune series you understand that he is only growing it to grow it. not for peppers
