    pod Stripey ghost peppers

After the heat broke this summer my first ghost pepper (naga morichi) plant started producing. The fruits were green but as I waited for them to ripen they developed these black lines emanating from the stem area. Anybody know what these are? Google search says they could be the plants natural...

    plant "Ougon"

Thank you! Okay great I'll keep that in mind. Feeling nervous about the root trimming. Here's my latest Hall of peppers, the big bag of green ones at the top are the ougons (also pictured naito and naga morichi)

I appreciate it, but I have had zero luck growing peppers from seeds. I've tried 2 years in a row. The ones I have now I was lucky enough to find in a plant shop. When you overwinter them, how much do you cut them back?

How late in the season can we still get peppers here? Mine have a lot of flowers I'm hoping for one more flush.

Very nice! I have about 20 on the plant now but they won't change colors. I also just ordered a batch from https://poke-m.com/ to compare them. Oh, what part of Japan are you in? I live in Osaka. It's hard to find a sunny spot in the city!

I know this thread is over 10 years old, but I just found it and this is one of the few things I can find about the ougon pepper. I found some seedlings in a small garden shop and grew them this year. Here are some pics

I'm growing peppers for the first time

I live in a country where it's difficult to find hot peppers, especially super hots. So this year I decided to grow some when I saw some seedlings at a local garden shop. I'm growing two Japanese varieties naito and ougon, also a seven pot, a scorpion, a ghost pepper, and a Carolina reaper. The...
