Yea, and that plant is consistently putting out pods of that color. I'm definitely saving seeds and growing a few of them next year to compliment my "normal" chocolate bhuts.
I don't know about you but I love the taste of the chocolates...reds too :) Bhut's are still my favorite super hot...
The long red is just some kind of cayenne I'm almost certain. I've grown them now for two years (free seed packs) and have had the same results as you. Great producers, lots of pods. Makes a fine powder for sure.
Thanks man!
So interesting thing about my chocolates this year, I have two distinctly different "flavors" of chocolate bhut jolokias this year. 5 of my plants are putting off the traditional brown pods. I have one plant that's putting off pods that more of a caramel color. Here's two...
No need to be sorry at all, no one ever made any claims that anything was isolated (you told everyone the exact opposite) and I think it's a pretty cool cross. Not to mention the fact that the plant is a beast - one of my largest. I only planted one of the other douglah seeds and that plant got...
I learn something new every day :) Thanks for the info man! Still wondering what I have here, a classic red 7 or some kind of douglah / red pepper cross. I'll just keep eatin' them until it comes to me in a vision
Seeing that this is the marketplace it's of the few sections where someone should not use the search functionality. If everyone did that no one would ever buy or sell anything new we would just keep digging up old threads. If I had Butch T to sell I would be all over new threads if people were...
I love em', one of my favorites for sure. This is my first year growing them and I couldn't be happier with how they are turning out. I have 6 plants total and should be buried in ripe pods over the next two weeks. :hell:
I'm growing a douglah this year and pods have started ripening to red. Igot the seeds last year from cappy along with some brain strain seeds. Is there a known red douglah or do I have some kind of cross and Cappy if you read this and this is a cross, what reds were you growing last year? I'll...
The gardens...
Brain strain
Some chocolate bhut jolokias
And will bring it home with some red/giant jolokias
Ripening is kicking in on all plants. I will be buried in peppers in no time!
Yea that's your best bet...too late here in the midwest. Get all stocked up and get your seeds started indoors in mid/let Feb and you'll be overloaded with peppers by this time next year.
Yea I imagine the black on black + 100 degree temps for multiple days can really cook the roots. Plants and pods are still looking good though, you should get plenty of heat. Love that last pic. I'm going to snpa some more pics today too, have a lot ripening up now including some of the biggest...
I got my seeds from http://www.thehotpepper.com/user/1257-pepper-ridge-farm/ . Will post more pics as things develop. I think you'll like the charleston, it's a great pepper. Thanks for looking!
Grow on
