I had some of the look like not a problem kind take out one of my orange trees. Got in under the bark and destroyed the cambium layer all around at the bottom.
I used Windows Paint to make a chart of my pepper patch. The large circles are tomato plants, the smaller circles are the peppers. The scale is 4 feet between tomato plants. The uncolored circles are places waiting for me to transplant some of the 45 other potted pepper plants I have.
