I picked the peppers off my two Chimayo plants:   One plant put out fatter, more squat chilis:   The other more elongated:   I saved the seed from a few of these ripe peppers and put them into the dehydrator... will try some Chimayo powder/flakes soon:     My selected GuwaX plant.  The pods...

  Thanks NC, it's got a good flavor... the main thing for me was to find a frutescens that wasn't too juicy... this fit the bill.       Thanks Trident... ah, the Chimayo has gotten around hasn't it?  I'm not sure it's a stable variety.  I grew seed from two different sources, liked one better...

Did you end up starting any Assam Bhuts this year?  My overwintered plant is putting out some pods... can't wait to enjoy them when they're ripe.

  Thanks Rick.  Yeah, pretty much, except for my Chiltepin X Chintexle and a couple of random runt pods...  I'll still wait for the Chimayos to be complete ripe before I pluck them.

  Haha, I don't mind feeding the birds... just hope they save a few for me :)

Thanks guys.  I'll have to figure out how to save some pods from that Chiltepin x Chintexle... after I posted the pics a bird has actually been eating all the red ripe bird peppers!  Either a robin or blue jay... I've seen both hanging around near my plants :surprised:

Maybe they'll eventually turn red?

Had another Chiltepin Tarahumara x Chintexle F1 today, amazingly :hot: :fireball:   If anyone is looking for a new little wild/bird pepper to grow, I'd be happy to share some seed.  It's unlikely I'll be growing out any F2 plants from this.   Plants and pods:

My favorite GuwaX F2.  I'll grow my F3 plants with seed from this particular plant.  

  I'll be sure to post pics as they get going... the plants are still growing a bit at this point, but they're just about ready to focus on flower production.       Thanks for the pointers, this season is definitely a learning experience for me with this variety.     I moved a few plants back to...
