What is it about rain that makes my plants grow so fast?

I have noticed the same thing with rain water. we've had some rain the last two days here in South Louisiana and i put my plants out in the rain to get a good soaking. Some appear to have almost doubled in size, especially my Bhut. Still waiting on my first peppers. Now that football season is...

    Peppers growing very slow

Thanks Richard. I will give them some potassium today and add some hydrogen peroxide to the watering. I can say that every one of my plants that were in the sun were wilted when I got home yesterday. I watered them and within 30 minutes they were back to normal.

    Peppers growing very slow

I am having flower drop problems with my plants as well. Day time temps get close to 100. nights in the upper 70's to low-mid 80's. The only plants that have flowers are my orange habs and my jalapeno. My jalapeno has 4 peppers with a few flowers. My hab has tons of flowers with no peppers. I...

    Nanaglen`s "plantation"

I have a habanero plant that dropped about 50 flowers, probably due to the heat. It's now about 3 ft tall and i see some buds that will soon turn into flowers. Hopefully these will produce pods.

    Nanaglen`s "plantation"

Your plants look very nice. Here in South Louisiana, the weather has been very hot (95+) and windy, not alot of rain. I had to find places to keep my plants protected from the heat and wind. This is my first year growing peppers and I quickly discovered there is quite a bit of expense involved...

    Leaves being devoured

exactly what's happening to my jalapeno and a couple of pepper plants. I never see anything on them, however I did see a grass hopper on my jalapeno plant over the weekend so i murdered his ass. I also sprayed the plants with some insecticide soap. Hope that works.

    Frustrating Pepper Growing Season

The weather here in Louisiana will be warm through mid Oct, then the weather will turn. I did learn alot about pepper growing so that should help next year. I just put my bhuts outside and they appear to be growing but at a slow pace. I think i will have to put all of them outside and get them...

    Frustrating Pepper Growing Season

Next year I do plan on starting around the beg of Jan. I will try to over-winter one or two of the best looking plants. Hopefully one will be the Bhut. That plant is still only about 3" tall and it was planted on 5/1. Unless they start to grow like crazy, I doubt any of the plants I grew from...

    Frustrating Pepper Growing Season

I did get a late start this year. I planted my first seeds on May 1st. Only one plant, a habanero, produced any flowers. and those flowers all fell off. The hab was bought at a store on 4/25. All of my others were started from seeds. Bhuts, datils, jamaician red hots, fatalli, alma paprika, choc...

    Habanero Flower Drop

I may have to file a loss of pepper claim with BP as the flower drop may be directly related to the oil smell in the air. Those bas$@#$#. BP has caused me to miss out on some good habanero peppers. Too much grower attention. I could see how that may affect the plants. However, my habanero and...

    Habanero Flower Drop

I actually used crushed egg shells and bone meal but it didn't help. The main reason I brought the plant in is the weather. At times, very windy and alot of rain. The plant is under my front porch but when the wind and rain get heavy it makes my hab droop. so i've been keeping them in. i put...

    Habanero Flower Drop

I've read alot of posts on this site regarding flower drop. The weather here in S Louisiana has been in the mid to upper 90's during the day and approx 75 at night. I've been bringing in my habanero every other day hoping that would help in flower set. However, all of the flowers dropped, approx...

    The SUPERthrive Experiment

i agree. there needs to be two comparisons of identical plants. I am curious to know the outcome as I have seen the stuff at Lowes and read about it on this site. Some swear by it others say it doesn't work. So IMO, there is no way to know if it works unless you do a test yourself. I have...

I would have them either refund your money or send you a replacement via 2nd day air. That's crazy for them to send plants via USPS (snail mail). I'm sure you paid at least $12 or more for shipping.
