The soil is a mixture of MG Organic and regular potting soil. I hate the Mg and I am no longing using it. I have some 16 oz stryofoam cups that will up-plant the seedlings in as I have Sta Green Potting soil. Not much of a variety available here. I wish i could find pro mix around my area but...
Being a first year pepper grower, it seems like these plants are not growing. The stems are thin and the height seems to be about the same as a week ago. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?
I only used fish emulsion at 1/4 strength so for and have also spritzed with epsom salt once or...
The lights are probably 6-8" from the cups. I guess I will begin shifting the soil to remove the chunks. As for as the fish fert, it's just 1/4 strength.
Thanks Dan. I just sprayed them w/epsom salt and will hit them in the morning with diluted fish emulsion. I've read so much on this site about too much fert, not enough calcium, sulfur or iron deficiencies, etc. I'm having a hard time determining what I need to do. I have a hab and tabasco...
These are banana pepper plants. I re-potted yesterday and watered slightly. I guess these could appear to be some form of shock or iron or sulfur dediciency. I only used a water down fish fert. These are sitting under a flour light w/2 6500 k bulbs. I don't think that has had any affect on them...
Sorry Luckdog. I didn't know you had any. I really don't like asking for freebee's.
If anyone would like to send me a few rocoto's, i would greatly appreciate it.
I have 2 bhuts that just sprouted two days ago. I have a jalapeno and habanero that is close to a foot tall. Several others are still tiny. Hoping they all start growing soon so I can get them planted and outside.
Anyone know where I can get some Rocoto seeds? I checked a few online sites and I can't see to find any.
Are these seeds rare and are they hard to grow?
I received some seeds from peppergal.com. I know I am getting a late start, but we have a fairly long season as it will not start getting cold until Oct or Nov. Basically just wanted to see if I can get these to germinate and produce some peppers.
I planted the following in styro cups with...
I have MG organic potting mix and it is crap. I used it to plant some seeds and it forms up like cement. It does contain some big chunks and I had to shift through the mix to pull out the unwanted material. Getting ready to spread it in my yard just to get rid of it.
The bhuts and the cayenne came from Pepper Joe. The banana pepper seeds came from lowes. I am waiting for some seeds from Peppergal. They were ordered last week.
I figured the cups would be the easiest as I could just cuts the cups apart and transplant into larger pots w/o disturbing the roots. I kind of thought that it was kinda fast for a bhut to germinate, considering some posts say it could take 3-4 weeks and longer. Not sure if that is a good sign...
Planted 4 Bhuts on 5/1 and I see two are beginning to sprout. Long Red Slims were also planted on 5/1 and the banana peppers were planted the last week of April. I am hoping the Bhut's do well and to at least have two plants grow to produce some nice pods.
Here is one Bhut.
Here is another...
Payton,
I would like to have a few of your yellow 7 seeds, if you have any left. I don't have much, as for as seeds yet. I do have some choc habs & fatalli seeds on order.
I saw the Epsoma fertilizer at Lowes and almost picked up some. I wanted a liquid fertilizer to aid in flower/vegetable production, which is why I went with the 15-30-15. I may pick up a bag of the Epsoma to use when I transplant into the 5 gal buckets. I have my Jalapeno in a 15" clay pot...
