    Tall enough to top?

That's a great explanation. I'll top after the 4th like you said since I get 8 instead of four branches. More branches, more pods!   Thanks

    Tall enough to top?

Does a branch site need lots of light? The first node branches would be shadowed slightly by the third node leaves.

    Tall enough to top?

Bhut Jolokia, about 6" tall, fifth node has emerged. I want to top it after the second node (remove nodes 3, 4, and 5), but is the plant old enough to take it?

    breeding I think I have a hybrid

Interesting. Well as long as these are jalapenos that's great. It's what I'd thought I'd been growing for a while. Thanks for the replies.

    breeding I think I have a hybrid

I grew my first plant thinking it was a Bhut Jolokia. When the pods came out smooth and small, I figured they must be a jalapeno since the guy I got the seed from had both kinds. I figured I messed up which container was which. Now, however, I'm not so sure I have a jalapeno... The pods start...

    These are fungus gnats right?

They've mostly stayed on my Jalapeno which is when I started to fight them but then they sucked the life out of the tips of my Bhut Jolokia seedling. That's when war was declared. Bastards...   http://imgur.com/a/K7Oh4#0

    These are fungus gnats right?

I'm using Mosquito Bits and they're not having much of an effect. They die down a bit and then a new swath of adults comes in and keeps flying around. They're indoor plants and I hung a yellow trap yesterday.

    Sam's 2014 grow season poll!

Got a bunch of seeds this summer from people on THP (thanks guys!) and from a couple of online seedbanks. I now have enough where I can choose which I'll grow next season. Unfortunately, they all sound like such good choices that I need a little help deciding! The peppers that get chosen will be...

    MoA Jamaican scotch bonnets....

I got some seeds from Steve about a month ago. Super excited to grow one or two next season. I definitely think spreading the seeds around the world like THP members are doing is awesome, but did the MoA want that to happen? There must have been a reason for them keeping the seedbank tightly...

    Does this fert look good

Definitely for transplanting but not something you'd want for flowering. For flowering, something with high phosphorous is preferable as a supplement.   http://www.easygardener.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=223

Flavor differences between picked ripe vs. picked underripe

Interesting about the Tabasco and Bhut Jolokia! And if you want a Poblano, it has to be green!

What's going on with my peppers? Disease?

Butch T looks like calcium deficiency.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwpYuP1as-M   This video will help. Use CalMag+ from Botanicare or just foliar feed with molasses 1 tablespoon/gal

Flavor differences between picked ripe vs. picked underripe

I've heard that some Brain Strain and Scorpion varieties have a "fruitier" flavor to them when they're picked underripe.
