    lighting Indoor lighting (Kelvin issues)

Bolting just refers to flowering. It's an incorrect term when used with berries like peppers as their flowering/veg cycles are totally different from things like lettuce, kale, greens, and brassicas. Things like that go to seed once and once they start, they're ruined as the edible parts...

    Need some advice!

TNMCPI is a great resource for good looking plants. If you want more general advice, get annuums. They tend to grow fast and many strains are great producers. In addition to that, most people recognize annuums more readily than bacatuums or chinenses. Jalapeno, serrano, cayenne, poblano are all...

    shopping Products to provide calcium

Bone meal is good. Use it when fortifying Phosphorous as well, it has lots of both. I prefer molasses. It's got Calcium and Magnesium and a few other micronutrients as well as chelating agents which can help make the nutrients more accessible to the plant in water. Use unsulphured kind, the one...

    Help with getting more fruits

I water when the plants start to look "sad" at the beginning of the day. For me, they always look sad at nighttime because my grow is a little on the hot side, but if they look sad when I wake up they get a gallon. Calimagic may or may not solve the chlorosis issue depending on what nutrient...

    Help with getting more fruits

Are you getting lots of flowers that later drop or none at all? What are you giving your plants in the way of Phosphorous, Calcium, and Magnesium? How big are the pots? How much water do they get and how often do they get it?   8 hours of light is way too little, increase it either by moving the...

Highest possible chili density per square meter

Jim Duffy's site has Peruvian White Habaneros. Are those the same things as White Bullets or are they different? I've looked around and most people have Peruvian Whites and not White Bullets. I also couldn't find the difference between the two online...   And good for you, man, I hope they were...

I'm already trying to do hydro for basil and tomatoes and they're just dying slowly... gotta get on that. People already think I grow weed, it's tough to hide a 400W bulb when it's aimed right at your door haha.

Highest possible chili density per square meter

Vertical space is like 6.5', but the bar from which I hang my light is only about 4.5' off the ground...   The RPi is hooked up to a thermometer, a timelapse camera, and a fan and I can control the devices from my phone. I plan on using an SSR to later control when the light is on and off and...

Highest possible chili density per square meter

That's an interesting idea actually...  I'm working with a small space and it's a dorm room so adding shelves would be difficult since I have to keep from marring the existing closet which is basically four boards screwed together and then bolted to the wall...   Here's what I have working right...

More questions from a new guy.....(Picture update Week 9)

You can actually ramp up light an air to 24/7 as long as you give the plants some time to adjust. Peppers are pretty friggin' sturdy if a bit brittle and they'll take all the light and CO2 you throw at 'em. I have a small (~4" diameter) desk fan placed inside my grow closet aimed at my plants...

White bullet habs look insane. Those might be my choice... Unfortunately it looks like the lady who runs pepperlover.com doesn't sell them anymore even though she did in the past... Going to have to keep searching.

If I were to do this, I wouldn't have a mix of species. More like one cultivar that's known to be prolific and, maybe, prefers to be crowded.

Highest possible chili density per square meter

Goal:   I grow in my dorm room closet with a 400W HPS bulb. It's great because I can control everything that goes on in the small space with my Raspberry Pi, but it's also a really small space that limits me to two plants at the moment. I have a Bhut Jolokia and a jalapeno sharing the space...
