    How long till second leaves?

I would think they would be along anytime now. They are Naga's which is a long season plant so they will take longer then most.

    Flowering too early?

This early in the season I would be pinching off those buds/flowers.

    Big Jim 2007 competition

    First Flower of the Season

Interesting Thai Dragon. The flowers look the same as mine but I don't have purple at the node junctions like yours does. I get pods that are about an inch 1/2 to 2 inches in length and fairly hot. Same for you? Thai Dragon

    Habman's going Hydro!

Well my ratio comes out to 2.83 so it looks like I'm right on schedule at any rate. I swapped out the water and added some flora clean. I adjusted the ph down to where it was before the change but the ppm is around 300 so they have a little something to keep them going. I'll run like this for a...

    Habman's going Hydro!

Question for you guys. How often do you change your water/nutrients? I've had the same stuff perking for about 3 weeks now and everything seems to be fine, plants are doing great actually. Just curious if there is a recommended change cycle.

I have row covers if need be but it looks good for the next 10 days anyways. I'm in the SE metro so I'm usually +5f over the telecast temps. POTAWIE - No big jim, they didn't make it this year, even the one in the hydro kicked the bucket. :(

Well the garden is in. I ended up with 55 plants in the ground this year and another 15 in pots and the hydro. All that's left is to transplant my 2 African Piquin plants to a DWC setup. I went with a coco coir / hydroton mix for all my potted stuff. First time I've used the coco so...

    smoking Exotic Meats?

Well I've tried the following and liked most of them. Bear Antelope Caribou Shark Possum Raccoon Rabbit Buffalo Wild Turkey, Goose, Duck Pheasant Quail Deer and just for the record, I generally don't eat anything that is a reptile, amphibian, or has an exoskeleton.

    First crack at growing

Ya your habs are long season while the cayenne is a mid season pepper. Not sure about the starfish. The habs are the reason I went to all the trouble with an indoor setup. I know the season is too short here so I have to bring them in when fall hits. The weather works out fine for early to mid...

That grow light bulb is just about worthless. It's an Incandescent bulb with color filter so that only certain parts of the light spectrum make it though, plus it's chewing up a 100watts of power. What you need is a CFL (Compact Florescent)or 2. CFL's have a much lower power consumption rate...

    Sunburned Peppers

Hey Red, thanks for the offer but I already have 1/2 dozen naga's on their way. I'm not out of it yet for this year! I plan on trying a couple of them in a DWC setup and the others I'm going to put in pots using a mix of potting soil, coco coir, and the leftover hydroton pellets. I also have...

    Sunburned Peppers

You can always throw some row covers over them if you like. 60s during the day is a little on the cool side because it puts your nights in the 40f's I am assuming. They may be a little chilly. Ideally you want the soil temp in the mid 50's, daytime temps in the 70-80f range, and lows in the...

Hey guys, Those are Hydrotron clay pellets in the cups, rockwool is used for starting seeds. If you guys have trouble with the pic coming in just follow the link to my gallery and you should be able to see all of them. Yes I am putting in a dirt garden probably next week some time. I already...

    Cherry Bomb Peppers

Ya their not very hot but have good flavor. I usually chopped them up fresh for my salads when I grew them.

Just an FYI that I've finally got around to uploading some more pepper pics, they can be viewed from the link below. Here is one of Savina plants from the hydro setup.

    My Jalabanero page is up

You could be right. It may have been the next year after I did that the Jalaps were hotter than usual. I normally don't use seed when I stick them all together in the garden but I might have for jalapenos since I rarely have anyone ask me for seed on those. When I raise plants for seed I usually...

I did this accidentally one year. Jalapenos right next the Caribbean Reds. Those were hot Jalaps that year!
