    pests weird bug

Could be box elder bugs, I know we those up here. Is this the critter? If it is it won't eat other bugs and it feeds on tree leaves.

    smoking Sauce Competitions

Just FYI, I have a BBQ sauce by that name. I don't have it registered or anything like that but I just wanted you to be aware that I've entered it in contests and took a 3rd place scovie under that name. If you enter the scovies you might want to change the name to avoid confusion.

smoking Who's got the Q woikin'?

Grilling is hot and fast like you would use on steaks. BBQ is low and slow like you would use for pulled pork or brisket

    The ubiquitousness of Miracle Gro

Once I till the garden I usually will take a couple containers of earthworms and add them in. I try and do that a week or 2 before I plant to give them time to get established. The castings fertilize and the worm holes help with drainage.

    Habman's going Hydro!

Well It's early April and I have finally found time to transplant some seedlings. First off, the Thai twig died as soon as the pepper turned red so I tossed that. Second, the Thai seed that I had sown directly into the hydrotron did great and I transplanted them into coco coir save 1, which I...

    tiny sprouts

Well I usually start my seeds in a bio dome type setup, then once the seedlings get their first true leaves I take the dome off to ensure they get plenty or fresh air. The plants are usually ready for transplanting once they get a couple inches tall.

    Habman's going Hydro!

Ok, I've been watching ppm and ph the last couple days and noticed that the ph is holding steady but the ppm has been creeping up. It's up to just under 800 now and I've had about an inch of evaporation. My assumption is that the 2 little seedlings I have don't consume enough nutrients to keep...

seeds Too late to start seeds?

Well you can do it, and it probably won't make that much of a difference but 2 things come to mind. 1. peat has different chemical properties than coco which may, or may not make a difference, not sure really. 2. Your going to have to peel all of the mesh off of the plugs before you plant them...

    Habman's going Hydro!

Well the hydro is up and running. nutrients are at around 600ppm, ph is around 6.1, and temp is 70.1. I broke open a Thai pod and squeezed a bunch of seeds directly into the hydrotron in one pot, planted my Numex BJ in another pot, and a twig that busted off of my mature Thai plant in a 3rd. So...

seeds Too late to start seeds?

You can save yourself a step next time and plant in coco plugs instead of peat, that way you can just transfer to the pot after fluffing the roots a bit. Pick up a seed mat when you're at the hydro store, well worth the money.

powder-flake So what's this crushed pepper I get at restaurants?

In the US most of those are of the cayenne variety. (used to work at a pizza place.)

    Habman's going Hydro!

Question for you guys, do I need to let my hydro system run for a bit before I add plants to it? If so how long should I run it?

    *wistful sigh*

Cool, I will keep them going then. I have a couple weeks before the other peppers get their real leaves so the tray can stay right on top of the seed mat for now. Primo - I might take you up on that, lets see if these are truly duds. On the bright side, I now have 4 Savina's that came up along...

seeds Too late to start seeds?

You're in Texas man, you have plenty of time to get started yet. If you want to get a jump on things you can always order from someplace like chileplants.com, they ship live plants.

    seeds Drying seeds

From a ripe pepper I usually just scoop the seeds onto a paper plate and leave in the sun or on top of the fridge for a couple days until dry. Pack in ziplocks after that.

    *wistful sigh*

Started my seeds last weekend. Second planting of the naga's unfortunately, the first batch was a complete loss, no sprouts:( So I'm going to try one more time with the naga seeds before I call them junk. All my other varieties should come in though, the naga's were the only ones that were...
