Sometimes that first plant from the cross does not look that special. One thing is for certain though, the next generation will give you a lot of diversity provided the parental generations chosen to make the cross are significantly different. It is there in the second generation that things get...
Thank you! Seriously could not be more pleased with how these black poblano lines are coming along. To think most of my lines also still carry variegation in their lines is also exciting to me. Nice sized stuffing peppers as they are now however and still I find myself wanting to make them...
Diluted or undiluted... a sauce is generally just a diluted form of the actual pepper with added vinegar, honey, sugar, etc. depending on the specific profile the sauce maker is going for. A pepper on the other hand is undiluted... having eaten a fair amount of peppers from Carolina Reaper on...
My story began when my grandfather started feeding me jalapenos to keep me out of his homemade pickles.
I was soon eating up all of his jalapenos.
Flash forward a few years and I met another Pickle. This pickle however got upset when I asked him why his C. chinense UFO was different from the...
My dark ones like that show variegation on the lighter sides only that are not exposed to direct sunlight until they start to mature. You selected well from what I can see. I am working on backcrosses with these as well as some interlines that I am using as test crosses at the same time to...
I am growing mine in full sun in North Carolina, but then I am growing Locopica. I do have a friend growing C. pubescens in full sun in North Carolina a few minutes from me though.
Locopica or Capsicum pubescens of some sort would be nice to try if you love Capsicum that go drip drop when you pop them into your mouth. You won't find any Capsicum juicier and the heat can be pleasant enough.
Once you go C. pubescens the only thing better is a Locopica. Both are mouth watering firebombs of juice rolling down your fingers when ripe, but the later tends to be much hotter.
I have a Capsicum annuum 'Bryan's Blood' x C. chinense 'Pockmark Peach' that is clearly showing signs of being dominant C. chinense... albeit with my cross I used C. chinense pollen and an annuum as the fruiting plant. When something is difficult to take one way you may find you have better luck...
