    breeding First Cross!

Oh, Its just supposed to go over the flower unless I sent the wrong link. After its a pod you just take it off. Either way, thats what Ive been told to do to isolate them. That and a q-tip. Ive used my finger on an indoor plant before and it worked out fine.

Chilli plants - leaf curl / curling upside down?

Ill second that. Pepper plants dont like that much water. They need well draining soil and water sparingly. In 95 degree heat I water my raised beds every 4 days or so and not a soaking. My buckets are at about 3 days right now but up to every 5 days for each depending on conditions. More posts...

pics something is munching my leaves. pics show damage.

I like to toss the big green guys on the roof and let the birds have a snack. If it dries out from the sun, eh, same result, just I didnt get to recycle it. We have loads of smll garden lizards, but Ive never seen them crawl on any of my plants, not even once in the 10 plus years Ive been...

    Ants on Pepper Plants

Thx for this, I always just thought all ants were aphid harvesting enemies. Im a little to urban to have carpenter ants I think, but now Im going to read up a bit more on the little buggers I do get. Ive got a bunch on a couple of my plants right now so Im just starting to combat the enevitable...

soil Imsulating hydro (or just soil) buckets?

Yeah its getting into 100+ tomorrow- they say could get 105 at my house. Just a tip, but in my bigger hydro stuff with 20 gal reseviors I put a frozen water filled 2 liter soda bottle in the tanks in the morning. Seems to be fine. Melted by when I get home from work and i take it out, rinse and...

soil Imsulating hydro (or just soil) buckets?

Im just wondering if anyone is insulating their buckets. For my drip hydro I duct tape an old towell around them then wrap aluminum foil. Im trying to keep the water temps down. For my tower garden it has a 20 gal res and I grow watermellon in 1 of the lowest holes. It ends up covering the whole...

    Anyone tried/using the Tower Garden

Ive taken plants that are several month old from soil to drip, my home made nft, and the tower many times. Im probably over cautious, but I rinse the roots at dusk in the shade when its cooled off from the day, then just pop them in. A couple times Ive shocked them too much, but most always...

    Why will it not grow?

i just got back from a 4 daytrip out of town and it was 95 every day. Hydro of course was fine but my containers were also happy and still dont need water quite yet. What kind of fertilizers are you using? Could be caring a little too much for them and over feeding.

    tutorial The Pest Guide

Caught another one last night. Re baited the trap. Ill keep this up till either the trashcans full or they are all gone. Call me the pied piper of pasadena except the pipes gonna be upside their head lol. Sorry if it sounds so harsh but Im totally fed up.hundreds of hours making hydro stuff...

    tutorial The Pest Guide

Well I can say diatomaceous earth, liquid repellent, ultrasonic deterrents, are all a joke. The rats actually chewed a foot up a watermelon vine and ate 2 more pods. I did catch ome in the live trap i put out with a piece of chees. Traps name is misleading. Hes no longer live. Rebaited trap and...

    tutorial The Pest Guide

They,be been chewing the unripe pods, and taking a single bite out of every just ripening pod. Seems like they bite it, say oh dam thats hot, and move on to the next one. I lost 40 or more pods a couple years ago. Only thing that saved me was having about 40 plants so the sheer number made it so...

    tutorial The Pest Guide

Went through quite a few pages and surprised I didnt see rats. Did see chipmunks but not squirrels or rats. Theyve been the bane of my grows for 10 plus years. This year Im trying some of the newer electronic devices that do multi frequency high pitched sound. Tried the powder / granule...

    Anyone tried/using the Tower Garden

Yep AJ, you got it exactly. Its just space saving. Many plants in a 3ft square. They grow to full potential too. I have to rig up some dacron line to keep the trunks from breaking though despite the tomato cage ring thingy. As for nutes, Ive never even tried their home brand. I got mine cheap...

    Unwanted Guest

Ive used neem plenty of times in the past. Its safe and as effective as non pesticide organics can be. Slightly soapy water has been used with similar results but Ive had luck with neem. Does depend on the targeted species though. Ive used it for aphids but never heard of using it on larger...

need recomendations on super hot peppers to grow

Just my 2c but Id suggest at least a modified version of this:(you probably already start indoors but consider a short indoor grow part as well. For short grow periods get one of the cheap small kits. Tray, heat pad, rockwool cubes, little lamp and seeds. Start germinating and to seedlings...

Plus one on that- fleabay, amazon, aliexpress..not good chances. Check the vendor section here for seeds/plants that grow trues. In the past Ive messed up a early grow and got seedlings from Piedmont Farms and Cross Country (chiliplants.com) to just name a couple.
