    overwintering July Harvest (Winter)

Soo, this is my July harvest, pretty good since it's the middle of winter. These are outdoor, container grown. Queensland is the place to be if you're a plant!

    Rain, rain, rain... Seriously?

Ahhh, getting our rain now? Luckily having lots of alcohol made up for the lack of food when we were stuck home for a week with the floods. Made for a very fun week, although I did have to get my gallbladder removed afterwards. Turns out a week long diet of drinking and eating potato chips isn't...

overwintering Winter-Summer in OZ "Comparison" / Aussie Blabberers

Same. I started too late last year, so I'm going the other way - too early :P

    Any downsides to bonemeal?

I can never have too much (within reason) given the awful soil I have to work with. A few people around here complain of rodent problems when using it tho. I've only had rodent problems with the bag, so it's stored in a drum now.

seeds Any idea what is wrong with this seedling?

I'm thinking either too bright (probably unlikely under T5s) or too hot. Is your moisture consistent? A shot of Mg might help it too.

soil I think my soil/fert sucks

Just do whatever works for you. The examples from people here are just what worked well in their experience. Just because someone does it one way, doesn't mean that's the only way. If what you're doing is giving you the results you're after, then stick with that. If you get bored you can try...

lighting Lighting Cycle Question - Hours on and Off

Yeah, I typically do 20/4. I find 24 is good but 20/4 is just as good and saves money. Once I start going lower, things get slower.

    autumn in aus is close

As far down as Byron I've seed bird's eye 'trees' that produce fruit almost all year round. So unless we get some nasty frosts, they should be fine. Like gasificada, after the awful Summer mine only recently became productive.

    C. baccatum and extreme heat

Yes, if it's hot - put them in the ground. Unless you're going to stand there all day watering, you'll never keep the moisture consistent in containers.

    fusing stems?

Inspired by Axel Erlandson, I have a few chillis I've planted specifically for practicing on. I'll post some pics once they're more than seedlings :P

Companion Planting: Why Are Beans Bad?

I can't find a whole lot of reasoning but I did find that both beans and capsicums are susceptible to Pythium which will cause sudden wilt. They are also both susceptible to melon thrips.

    Growing weather

Spring was ok for me, higher than average bug count. Summer was a total write-off, hot, dry, very very wet, dry again, all over the shop. No pods at all over Summer Coming into Autumn, things are a lot better getting some good poddage happening but the plants are still clearly recovering from...

KEEP THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF YOUR GARDEN

Really? I'd like to see how a home gardener is to buy seeds/plants of a federally prohibited plant. Considering the lazy law writing style of this proposed legislation, imagine if it managed to apply to the whole solanaceae family... I wouldn't be surprised if a number of peppers are prohibited...

KEEP THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF YOUR GARDEN

I HIGHLY encourage everyone to make a submission to the Australian government regarding the proposed new changes to drug laws. It proposed to make thousands of plants illegal that contain traces of illegal drugs or chemicals used in drug manufacture (stupid things such as 25 grams of calcium...
