The Hollyberry Lady's summer flower and plant peeks...

Ciao Hollyberry Lady- I really really like that Cappuccino Lily of yours. Where did you get tubers? I know next to nothing about Asiatic Lilies but can they be divided in the Spring? I'd send you money for some divisions! Also, outstanding Masquerade Pepper. Duane has seeds for that one...

    Potawie's fall progress 2009

Good grief, Derek! That's insane. What I want to know is, how do you keep up with the work required to process them all? What else do you do with them besides dry them? Duane was absolutely buried in trying to keep up with his meager harvests, dry some, make ristras with some, and pressure...

    Duane's Peppers 2009

Ciao Rick- Duane waters from the bottom. With his hugely busy work schedule, growing the peppers this way is very convenient. Every week or so when he could get to it, he'd take the plants out and inspect, prune, harvest, photograh.

    My Tomatoes 2009

Ciao all- Finally, I have a break in the canning madness, so I can show you all a recent decent harvest photo. This was taken on 17 September.

    Duane's Peppers 2009

Ciao all- Sorry I haven't posted any harvest photos, but D's been super busy and sometimes is harvesting at weird times without having time to take photos. Here's a recent one before he made up some of AJ's concentrates, mostly different Habs, Hot Paper Lanterns, and a few Brazilian Starfish...

    Chile Pepper Ristras

Ciao all- Duane's got about a zillion Naga Jolokia Purple pods and really has no clue what to do with them. They're pretty small, but they're also very ornamental. He's thinking about making them into a ristra. Have any of you done this or know how to do it? It seems simple enough, just run...

small sweet tomato to be grown indoors??

Ciao all- My experience has been that growing tomatoes inside, regardless of whatever light setup requires some effort. My only real successes have been with very short determinate or dwarf cherry tomatoes. Whippersnapper does very well inside as long as you have the time to flick the...

    Canning whole tomatoes

Ciao Mike- Canning is for people who have patience..you just can't rush it. I mean you can try, sure, and then you can get frustrated.

    Uses for Purira Peppers

Ciao all- Duane's now buried in ripe peppers and I've been very busy making use of them, but I have no idea what to do with this one. What is it traditionally used in and where does it come from originally? What do you all use it in?

Ciao Tony- If Silver Surfer is right, what exactly will you make with all of those peppers? You have some really scary heat on those plants! Really beautiful, healthy plants, though, well done!

    Becoming Overwhelmed

Ciao all- There are a few things from 2007 and just a couple of things from 2006. We use most of what I put up. I don't go through the tomato paste each season, so I have some of that left over.

    Becoming Overwhelmed

Meraviglioso, Michael, you're doing very well! Enjoy and get sleep when you're able. I just did inventory of our remaining jars in the wine cellar. There will be a few new items to include, especially with the peppers. This is the plan (each case holds 12 jars unless otherwise indicated)...

    Tomato problem

Ciao chililover- We've had a lot of rain. A few of my plants are doing that, too. Prune off the yellow leaves and put in your green bin, not your compost. Keep doing that if you see more yellow leaves.

    Duane's Peppers 2009

Ciao all- Finally, I have a few photos to share to show you all what's been happening with Duane's pepper plantation. Here are the three pools on our driveway. I have 7 determinate/dwarf tomato plants in there, but everything else is peppers. I think the combination of a super early...
