Not a Ghost Pepper...Red Savina Habanero maybe?

Maybe it's the light in the photo but these don't look very orange. I would say red savina or red habanero.

Plant's with identity crisis i think.

On Friday 6th September a Trinidad scorpion popped up, a second had appeared by Sunday 8th. Today September 12th a Dorset Naga popped up. Will post pics at later date.

do they look like what it said on the packet?

I totally agree with you Nigel, the yellow 7 taste nothing like a naga :-)

do they look like what it said on the packet?

the yellows though taste nothing like a scorpion, Scorpions to my taste buds are not that nice.   the reds is a dorset naga type flavour.   When I liken them to other more common chillies such as a naga or habanero it doesn't mean that im saying that the flavour is an exact match, just...

do they look like what it said on the packet?

the reds have a definite naga scent (and taste).. where as the yellows are more pungent fruity, a bit like a habanero type.

do they look like what it said on the packet?

Shopping on eBay and i managed to get me these beauties.   The yellow is supposedly a 'Yellow 7 pot' and the red 'Trinidad Scorpion'.    The yellow has a lovely chinense smell to it though it is very hot.   Thing is though the scorpions don't smell like the scorpions i've had in the past, they...

What's wrong with my bhut? (photo)

    It's probably just pod variance.

    Have i finally located them??

They're growing them commercially on a small scale. This is their first year growing commercially but I'm guessing they probably grew on a large scale last year too as they have designed a range of products already based on the verieties of chillies they grow. Also they would have needed to...

    orange hab question

It's a first wave pod. Seeds often don't form and finding a green pod growing within your pod is also common. I've found it common with; orange habs, scotch bonnets and red savinas. The problem with lack of seeds or black bits where seeds where once has also happened with all the peppers I've...

    Have i finally located them??

So what could it be?? If it helps the flavour was quiet naga like with a trinidad scorpion undertone. Could it be a cross of the two?? It was exceptionally hot, however the worst of the burn was reserved for the mid esophagus region leading to nasty gagging and sensation of wanting to spew. I...

    Have i finally located them??

Tom & Olly came through. Very impressed with their Scorpions and Naga's. Good prices too :))   They also do range of other products and if your in the UK it would be worth checking them out. They can be found on Facebook :)

    Have i finally located them??

Not the largest examples but have i finally got hold of some Moruga's?? These are marketed as Trinidad Moruga's however some of the customers have cast doubt on whether these are pure moruga or hybrid. To me they look good and taste great.   and next to a chocolate habanero..

    Holes in peppers

I agree caterpillars. I've been very impressed though with my savina & devils rib plants because as soon as the pods are violated by a caterpillar the plants drop the pods. I never had this with my orange habs or scotch bonnets.

chinense Difference between savina & red habanero.

I reckon it is stable. The guy created it and for a time it was the hottest and everyone wanted it. It was protected meaning he was making money from it, that was until people started selling abroad or under 'red habanero'. To get around this he just markets it as unstable...
