Does anyone else feel stalled due to weather?

You can add Michigan to that list. Snowed again today. The interweb has last frost at May 10ish.. I hope that is the case. My 2 "house plants" are doing great, but the sooner I can start hardening off the rest the better.

seeds When to water baby seedlings?

I dont think there is a rule for when to water sprouts. If you think they are dry, give them a small drink. If they start to sag down, give them a small drink. Keep an eye on the color. Too much water will turn them a lighter green/yellow color. If that happens, just hold off for a while...

    chinense Orange Habanero Review

Is it generally difficult to grow seed from supermarket peppers? I have only tried once, and had 100% germ rate. The little woman was eating a orange bell so I grew her some

    Strange looking Bhut Jolokias

This happened to me as well. I ordered "Carolina Reaper" seeds off amazon. Thinking I was growing the hottest pepper in the world, a few months later I had a Red Savina Habanero. Initially I was bummed, but it turned out to be my favorite pepper. Enjoy the pepper you grew and remember, there is...

    Mother nature vs. Intervention

First, LOL @ Nut Burn ... Second, I think there are alway the specials and the others. I have 24 plants this year. 2 are basically coddled house plants taking up half of the living room. The other 22 go on a table I made in the back yard. The table peppers are looked over once a day after...

    container Container Size

I use 3 gallon pots with success. I have had 2 foot plants with pods in red solo cups. Last year I used 3 gallon pots exclusively and when the season was over I inspected the root balls and didnt find any that were root bound. Bigger is better, but 3 is sufficient

    Looking for the non-toppers

I bonchi my Red Savina Hab every winter. Its the first plant I have ever grown and its still alive. This winter I attempted to over winter my Brown Moruga, but it didnt make it. Outside of that I just save seeds from varieties I like and start over

seeds Should seeds to be planted be really spicy?

Red Savina is our household favorite pepper for powdering. Adds perfect heat to everything and anything. Only problem is guys at work trying to get my stash all winter.. maybe I will save seeds this year and grow more of them next year

seeds Best way to start seeds?

Paper towel sucks. Takes too long and in the end they just get planted in dirt anyway. I always planted directly into dirt and keep moist, not wet.. worked good This year I also tried one of the $10 jiffy domes with peat pucks.. I wont be going back to just dirt anytime soon. These had just...
