    Too late to start?

The nights are now settling into the mid 50' to low 60's, and the days are in the mid 70's to right around 80. I've moved some plants back to the garage if we get a freak cold front come through, but I'm just going for it this year. My plants do much better in the Louisiana sun than they do...

    Too late to start?

I actually started some more last night. But I have a pretty long growing season; and if they do happen to run out of time before they produce, I"ll just overwinter some of them.

seeds New to growing peppers from seeds

I have the same problem. Mine rarely gets all the way to 85, but it definitely warms the soil enough to speed up germination time.

start with the tray covered. If you notice way too much condensation or moisture in the tray, just pop up one corner of it and vent it.

I'm a pretty big fan of ProMix, but I've had equally good results with MiracleGrow potting mix as well.

seeds Seeds in Toronto and growing instructions

A better remedy than my original post. I had a late start this year as well, due to an electrical fire in the garage where I keep my grow boxes. I'll manage to put out about half of what I was planning on, but I'll have to store the remainder of my seeds for next year. I've been buying plants...

Houston I may have a problem, well, sort of...

I'll agree with you here, as its exactly what I've done the last couple years with almost all my plants. I've transplanted all my seedlings into solo cups and they go under the lights at night, but every morning starting last week they all get carried out to my patio where its been a little...

    food SAVE QUESO!

I'll have a coke as well. make it a Dr. Pepper. That's how we roll down here; no high falutin' sody pop, pop, cola, or any of that newfangled yankee-speak. A coke is a coke is a coke; just make sure you get the right flavor. And always bring a Moon Pie with it.

Broke out the cast iron dutch oven yesterday morning. When the pork butt was done, I removed it and ran the stick blender through the liquid/chile mixture. Shredded the pork, added back to the liquid, served it over grits. What didn't get eaten last night is going into tamales this weekend.

    seeds Starting from Seeds

absolutely not. My grow boxes are cardboard lined with insulated aluminum foil, and they sit under a normal fluorescent light in my utility room. for me (and the time I have to dedicate to growing peppers, which isn't much) the lower tech the better.

    vendor Pepper Joe

I'm getting a late start, but received my seeds from pepperjoe not long ago. Immediately got them planted, and germination has already been a success with all of them. Golden habs came up within 5 days. Right now I'd say I'm around 80-90% germination, and with early spring we're getting I'll...

food What was the last spicy meal you cooked?

Nothing crazy, just some steak tacos with my 3 pepper death salsa. first took the steak slices on a tortilla and put an unhealthy amount of salsa on them. then topped it off with pepper jack, cilantro, lime, and the wife did sour cream.
