    Disappointment

I may have a fear of deliberately stressing my plants after my experience with killing them all last year :) Its possible that being too healthy and happy has added to the problem, though. Perhaps the combination of greenhouse and being a bit less nice to them will help.

    Disappointment

So far none of my superhots (Caribbean Reds and Naga Morich) that are coming ripe during this cooler weather are nearly as hot as they should be. I know that my tolerance is higher this year than last because I've been eating very hot stuff almost daily, but even so, these things should be...

    What happened to August?!?

So you are saying August is having a bad trip? I gave up that particular fun almost 25 years ago. Flashbacks arent supposed to show up this much later...

    What happened to August?!?

August in southeat PA is almost universally hot and humid during the day with temps ranging from the upper 80's to the upper 90's, and still humid at night with temps in the low 70's. I was COUNTING on this. First time in my life I was actually WANTING that stinko August weather. My plants...

I second that. I would prefer those to the flimsy ones I have but thats what was available to me the day I needed em. The spackle buckets are way more durable. Just remember to drill some drainage holes in the bottom

Yeah they are cheapo's. I think I got them at Home Depot. They arent pretty but they do the job and cost less than the dirt thats in them :)

    Good god thats fun!

Actually my hands are heavily calloused from about 30 years of weight lifting. I have no problem handling superhot pods without gloves, naga or caribbeans, to destem and cut in two for cooking. I can juggle Naga's for an hour, pull the stems off, and cut them in half and I dont feel anything...

    Good god thats fun!

Man, thats quite a baptism of fire. As I'm preparing to make my first Naga Morich sauce from my first home grown chile's, its a good one to keep in mind :)

small plants, big yield. I count about 40 peppers (these are Naga Morich) that will be fully ripe within a week between these 2 plants with as many again that will ripen further down the road...

    Good god thats fun!

Harvested 4 ripe Naga Morich this morning and brought them in to work. I threw down the gauntlet: "These are the hottest peppers in the world. Anyone that thinks they are man enough or woman enough to eat some just let me know" I got one e-mail reply "Bring it!" Word got around and the whole...

    greenhouse Home made temporary greenhouse?

Right now I just have a paltry 6 plants, but next year I want to bump that up to 14. Thats all my deck table can fit. I dont have a yeard thats usable for growing.

    greenhouse Home made temporary greenhouse?

I'm using the concept of this hoop house, but to scale it down as much as I need to I need different materials for the hoops. I dont think that even the small PVC is gonna be flexible enough to make hoops that are only 3 feet wide. But my tent poles can bend that much easily :-)

    greenhouse Home made temporary greenhouse?

Actually I think I have developed a design that I can implement cheaply for only the cost of the heavy guage polythene nd some good adhesive. I have my plants on a table I built for the purpose of holding them. I also have a camping tent that has 3 long flexible rods that are the frame of the...
