I have my plants on a digital water timer and soaker. Worked out for me last summer..we'll be home tomorrow and see.
Been real hot out here and before I left, my Bhut's were about to turn along with my Chocolate Habs.
With my Morugas for example, if I see any green still, I wait till it turns solid red but if not totally ripe, I don't think it would make a major difference.
I could be wrong.
I gave it a shot of Cal-mag a couple days ago. It's flowering and giving me pods.

Weird you mention that. When I past the truck, I quickly glanced at the peppers and noticed some looked soft and wrinkly (the red ripest ones).

I live about 5 miles from the Sriracha Sauce factory which is in Irwindale, CA.
I spotted this truck on the way home full of Jalapenos..the main ingredient of the sauce headed toward the plant.
