Pretty cool topic. I've never seen anything but small white flowers and never thought much about them. That big purple one is cool. Anyone ever get any smell from a pepper flower?
Prob has both red and brown genetics in it. Not stupid at all...sounds interesting. I had an ornamental rainbow pepper at one point that had multiple color peppers on the same plant...would be cool to get a rainbow superhot plant.
IMO The Guinness records is fun but it kind of ruined the superhot scene by declaring a "winner" I've had reapers and they are good but I haven't had one yet that I'd say is better than a good brown. Seems every commercial farmer now days only grow reapers. Should have just called it "trinidad...
I think perhaps the ones that have a round tight bunch of seeds rather than a drawn out string like found in the ghost pepper are much better.
I just did a review of the two types of browns I grew this year. Ate Both of them with a meal. Both came out round and wrinkled with inward indents...
Browns > Reds
Round > Long
The scientific tests have a range of error. Lots of factors can play into the measured potency including potential human error.
I grew reapers last year and they had a pretty good burn. But I tend to get more bang for my buck out of wrinkly Trinidad types...
Those look Great whatever they are! Probably a really good Trinidad pepper ....all the names seem to confuse more than clarify. But I've seen some brown moruga peppers that are wrinkly and proper like that.
I like the guy's videos and find him imformative...just was reading above that he rubbed people the wrong way on here. So it sounded a bit odd hence the " not sure" perhaps that was worded strangely.
I think superhots are leagues above other peppers for taste. I've tried many and perhaps the yellow fatalli pepper has a comparably pungent flavor. But when I go to the garden to grab a pepper to eat it is almost always a red or brown round golf ball shaped pepper. Trinidad round and...
That'll probably make a difference. I tried cloning with a fogger at one point with no luck. Hopefully you get some good results using the rooting hormone. I didn't use hormone when i tried. My Coco clones took a couple weeks to show any roots BTW so maybe 10 day's wasn't enough...probably...
Any updates? Hope I didn't talk too much and kill the thread. Had one more Brown Moruga root but prob about it for this round. Nice cloning projects everyone.
I might do another round of clones myself...had a very high yielding red brain strain that keeps pumping out tasty pods which is...
Thought the one I grew this year had a tremendously colorful flavor. Maybe not bubblegum but I could see the compairison. The most colorful and vividly tasting superhots I've had. I thought for sure it was because of the taste.
For heat the shear weight and impact of the Browns are where it's at. Reds become more novelty when browns are available. Given a choice I usually reach for the Browns due to the quality of the burn.
Reds including the reaper don't give me a satisfying mouth burn but the stomach burn can get rediculous. Ordered some reapers online which were unreal looking with bumps and thin tails but ended up disapointing. Not enough heat. Had three of my best wrinkly unnamed reds (thicker tails if any...
My other keeper was an amazing chocolate bubblegum that came out red. I didn't have much expectations and only grew these because I got them for free. Very simular burn as the brown moruga but with a red flavor that also had a bright sweet and fruity flavor that is hard to describe. Even...
I chose two superhot keepers to clone this year. Using a root riot tray (the prepackaged 50 plug tray that sits in its one reservior seems to work and fit better than anything I can get by buying separate trays/reservoirs and I tried multiple stores) with a tall Mondo clear vented hood. One T5...
Sounds real interesting..I had a chocolate bubblegum that blew me away with taste and a burn. It came out red (From seed), but the best red I've had to date.
