I actually released lady bugs in my basement in 2010 to deal with an aphid problem on my peps. It worked great. All the sprays I tried had done nothing. A few bugs found their way around the house, but for the most part they went outside with the trays. This year I have released in the greenhouse.
Thanks,
update is that nobody is ordering superhots from me this year. I have enough even though I had wanted more. LOL. I better put out more advertisements.
Ack every forum I go to has crazy pictures of aphids I have never seen! Nightmares! Good thing my lady bugs arrive next week. That will make me more comfortable. Seriously lady bugs work wonders on them!
Luckily peppers are a less fussy veg to grow organically. Aged low N manure like cow or horse or good compost is all they need. If you overfertilize you get no fruit and all leaves. Spinosad works on potato beetles and Safer Soap etc on aphids. Floating row cover protects against pepper maggot...
They can use the term Chemical Free if the plants are such. But they are idiots to try to use the word organic. I am even scared to say the word when I am selling at market. I really don't know how fierce the penalty is if you get caught using that word.
It's the same. 2 Dorsets, about 12 bhuts, 4 Barackpore (that name is scaring off buyers around here- racists) and 1 Butch T.
No Kyle never reconciled the situation with my broken and no good seeds.

Here is the link to all the seeds that are available to home growers that Seminis offers, and Monsanto owns Seminis. None of these are GMO and if you had GMO seeds you would know since you would have to sign a contract to buy...
2 years ago I had an aphid outbreak on my seedlings in my basement. I tried a few different sprays and finally resorted to releasing lady bugs on them. Eventually my husband found out since some escaped in the house. LOL. But I would not have been able to afford to buy that many seedlings had...
Definitely don't use high nitrogen manures for peppers- such as rabbit, chicken or sheep. Nitrogen will cause all leaves and no flowers. Horse or cow manure that is well composted would be ok but not spread too thickly. If you use black plastic the peppers will grow great, conserve water and no...
I've grown OSU Blue and Orange Flesh Purple Smudge. Both are easy to grow, prolific with small not so tasty fruit.
All veg with extra colors have extra antioxidants. I have loved purple veggies long before I knew that.
Oh I am not making much selling a couple super hots. I sell peps and tomatoes among other plants but make my living selling veggies. Anyway I like to have some superhots for people to buy. My plan was for a small amount of some this year and to save seeds, thus eliminating the need to buy. I...
If you have the money to add that much peat to your soil you can afford a real soil test and get all the nutrients measured. Then use sulfur to lower the ph and not peat which is expensive and not really renewable.
I soak the pellets overnight then squeeze to fluff. Then I stick a pencil in to make a hole, drop the seed and poke in again with pencil if necessary and squeeze the pellet again to 'cover' the seed. I don't use them for peppers though- mostly sweet pea flowers and other things that hate...
I got seeds last year for a Filippino variety called Siling Haba. The seeds were pink like shiny nail polish for some reason. I really like them. They were about like a jalapeno for heat but lots of character and tremendous productivity. I will save seeds this year.
