    Anyone enjoy being a "sleeper"?

Many years ago i had a couple of kidney stones...talk about giving birth to a couple of pieces of glass! Watched my wife give birth to two kids and still think i suffered more! No epidural for me... However on the chilli front...well, no competition there...she thinks i am insane. i must admit...

    The Great Kiwi Pepper Thread

I think the alkaline soil causes nutrient lockout so the important minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium cannot be absorbed by the plant...hence the yellow leaves. Over watering will also give you yellow leaves. I have been letting the water sit overnight to let the chlorine evaporate but have...

    The Great Kiwi Pepper Thread

I always used tap water, but my ph is also around 8. Just got a rain barrel set up to start watering this way...should improve the soil ph. Depending on the outcome i may need to add ph down to the barrel to help a bit more.

    The Great Kiwi Pepper Thread

Lot of work to get through this long weekend. Repotting into larger pots and starting to plant out some into the vegetable garden. The grow got a bit out of hand this year and i am probably over 100 plants by now. Will get some photo's up after the work is done this weekend. Currently i have...

    seeds Quickest germination time

Those Black Naga seeds are consistently the faster ones to germinate for the last two years...must be strong genetics. The parent plant I had was a monster!

    First year growing peppers..

My mircha seedings are coming along. Will let you know if they turn out weird like yours are. Your plants are making me jealous! I have some under lights which are coming along nicely, but those in the greenhouse are struggling with fungus gnats and now aphids. Unleashed the beneficial bugs on...

how many hour below 60F before crisis

I have some plants that are pretty confused over here....with night time temperatures going down to freezing on some nights and most of the rest hovering in the mid 30's Fahrenheit, I still have some plants putting out pods! Carolina Reaper,Fatalii's and Butch T crosses in my greenhouse with no...

    greenhouse New greenhouse

Aw dude you make me proud! All the hard work makes it all worth while....professional, clean looking set up. Now welcome to growing chillies. That greenhouse will fill up pretty quickly and not stay so clean! And then, just like me, you will be cursing those damn fungas gnats and the aphids that...

Sounds good. Will take a look at them tomorrow night.

    Next years grow list

The Douglah is either loved or hated...no middle ground. It is pretty harsh from my experience with an awesome burn. There are better brown superhots out there for flavor. The Chocolate Fatalii and Black Naga work well for me as does the Brown Bhut.

Halide light - too much light for my plants?

Glad we got this greenhouse built after the "character building" caused when building mine! It is definitely easier the second time around....

    vendor pepperlover.com

Never have been let down by Judy. Had a parcel go missing recently and it was replaced without any questions...and with a bunch of extras as well. Customer service second to none and free shipping to New Zealand...what more can a chilli freak ask for? Her Moruga Scorpion powder caused a good...

Have placed two seed orders with them and both times the orders have arrived in record time on the other side of the world. The extra seeds are always awesome as well. You guys rock! Just soaking the contents of the second parcel now. Thanks from a wintery New Zealand.

    sharing the addiction

I nearly fell off my chair laughing at this this! Had to read it out aloud to my wife....seems this is truly a universal problem! I have just finished making a BBQ sauce that would re ignite dormant volcanoes for my wife's colleague.

    Newbie Welsh Pepper Grower

Welcome to the club! By the way I have discovered that eye of Newt is far more effective in dealing with white leaves than rabid badger ear wax. Also play the Beatles White album while standing on one leg facing south. Always works for me...never try this after a dozen beers though....   Cheers...

    Swampys Kiwi grow.

Looking good. You may want to get the lights down closer to the plants when they pop. With CFL's you can get very close as they don't heat up like discharge lights do. By the way...I had a similar greenhouse to the one you are going to buy and it is toast after Monday and Tuesday night's storms...

sun Cfls v a sunny window

I also start mine off under CFL's and T5's and then move to sunlight when the seedlings are strong enough and have a few sets of leaves. New Zealand winter is giving us freezing nights, but sunny days so I reckon they will do well in the windowsill indoors once they are have few leaves. Sorry...
