    Wolfman's grow log

Ha ha... yeah I do, but I am not too keen on digging the whole yard up. The farm land is the neighbors and I just can't see annexing his feilds for thousands of pepper plants. The work would be full time. One day though, when my hot sauce takes off. I forgot to mention that I also have...

    Wolfman's grow log

Well, I decided to make my grow log even though it's a bit late in the season. I think that it might help me keep track of progress because I look at my plants every day, so comparison will be good. Here is one of my Butch T plants: Uploaded with ImageShack.us Here is a giant jalapeno...

    Picking pods or snipping?

Yeah, I believe I have the same ones as you do... very nice item too. Uploaded with ImageShack.us I bought them just in case I needed to have them. Good for precision pruning too.

    Picking pods or snipping?

I was just wondering about harveting techniques. I have heard that ripping the stem of the pod off the plant is traumatic for the plants. I was doing research that suggested that snipping the pods off is a much better way to harvest. Have any of you run across this debate or have done this in...

    blooms falling off :(

I have all my plants outdoors... I feel that it's the best option for me. How about that phosphate question?

    blooms falling off :(

could you also correct the problem by upping the phosphorous? I know of a triple phosphate fertilizer that I could use for that.

    Peppers are growing...Nesco dehydration question

Total drying time: 18 hours. I did do enough peppers to make 1 1/2 cups of pure habanero powder. It was good stuff too... lots of aroma and flavor.

    Nutrient cycles

Ok, so I was thinking about mulching the entire garden. Any thoughts? I can either weed every few days, use mulch, or get down and dirty with some roundup and paint each weed with a paintbrush.

    Nutrient cycles

I am starting to get some buds on my pepper plants and was wondering if I should switch up the nutrient levels I am using. I know nitrogen is for growth, but have heard that phosphorous is crucial to the flowering stage. I know I can get a triple phosphate fertilizer, but should I really do so...

    Peppers are growing...Nesco dehydration question

I must admit, I am working off a full load... like Nothing else will fit. Habaneros take less time. I will let you know exactly how long, as I am doing a huge load with 4 trays right now. I started at 6 and it's almost 11 pm right now. I have checked them a few times, the last one about a half...

    Peppers are growing...Nesco dehydration question

I have a nesco FD-80. For a full load of peppers (jalapeno), it takes me 12-16 hours. I love this model nesco. The temperature is adjustable, and the motor is so quiet you have to stand right next to it to make sure it's still working. Lol... I have walked into the kitchen a number of times and...

    Butch T questions

Here is a small sample of the progress. The new growth on these plats are amazing! Here is a giant jalapeno, ripe with new growth: Uploaded with ImageShack.us Here is a beautiful habanero carribean red plant. the size is awesome, considering that these plants had only 3 or 4 sets of true...

    Butch T questions

Thanks guys. I'm noticing an explosion of growth. The poor rootbound plants had to stretch their "legs" and now it's "off to the races". I believe that the top growth was slowed in order for the plants to extend their roots a bit and now the top growth is just phenominal. I planted marigolds...

    Butch T questions

I have heard that 6 feet (2 meters) can be achieved with the correct growing conditions. What do you guys mean by "balanced" fertilizer? I have seen people swear by the fish emulsion, and some by higher concentrations (20-20-20 though?) Who is right? What should I use for my cooler climate in...

    Butch T questions

I am growing Butch T's with the rest of my peppers in the garden and was told that they tend to grow quite large. Can anyone tell me height, diameter of this plant at maturity. What is the expected yield per plant? How about some care tips for these peppers? I have been using 5-1-1 fish...

    Interesting developments and questions

I have heard of this. What kind of pepper works best? I have jalapenos right now, but can get my hands on habaneros soon. Does this adversely affect the plants at all?

    Interesting developments and questions

Excellent advice millworkman. I know that a solution of diswashing liquid and water, sprayed on the plants will also do the trick and I think I read that it won't kill my organic rating, but more research is needed. If I do use some ant traps, is that going to do any damage to any other insects...

    Interesting developments and questions

I finally got my peppers in the garden on Thursday. One thing I noticed is a large amount of ants have set up shop in my garden, making a huge deal over my plants. There aren't aphids present, so what's the deal? Should I let them stay or should I declare war? If I should wish to nuke them, what...

    Hello From Maryland!

I will be posting pics of my garden in a few weeks. It's not professional grade by any means, but I am still learning. It's not what's on the soil, but what's in it. I have been using fish fertilizer and epsom salt solution for foliage spray, so we shall see how that does. The plants are all...
