Something trying to eat jalapenos leaves and fruits

Looks like small hornworm damage. Although they don't usually eat pods till they are big or no/few leaves left. But could be some type of beetle also. My bet hornworms.   Look at nite with uv light, that makes most larger insects glow and easy to pick off. In the daytime hornworms fit...

    hi all

Well, not sure the logistics/cost of sending it to ID..?   1 gallon neem should make 200-250 gallons mix.      To drench completely 50 medium size plants I use 4 gallons mix no problem. I'm very liberal with my spray and err on the heavy side. But when I'm done no soft bodied sucking...

water Will soapy water harm chilli pods? Will pods absorb soapy water?

Agreed, I use a soft vegetable brush and give each individual pod a quick gentle scrub before the rinse off. Never know what was on that pod your about to put in your mouth... Although, must admit, I've probably put things in my mouth that I've had no idea where they've been...lol

water Will soapy water harm chilli pods? Will pods absorb soapy water?

Doubt dish detergent will make anyone sick if you wash off the pods before eating.   Your mix ratio of "teaspoon of dish soap mixed with 0.5 liter of water" is the strongest detergent mix I've seen, if not washed off your pods completely might give you a light bout of Montezuma's Revenge...

water Will soapy water harm chilli pods? Will pods absorb soapy water?

Dish soap at the very strong ratio you used is not good for the health of your plants. Some say any ratio of dish soap detergent is NG. If you are going to use soap best to use insecticidal soap at recommended mix ratio, or if you must use soap, a gentle organic type real soap like Dr Boners...

health Help identifying black spots and stunted growth

Ok then... Will a slurry test, and a run off test, significantly differ in ph..? And if they do differ what does that mean..?   99.9% of water my plants get is advanced RO water...

health Help identifying black spots and stunted growth

How about putting my farbic pot on wire mesh stand in a dry tub but held 3" above the bottom of the tub, then water fabric pot plant liberally from top. Wait for all the run off water to drain out of the bottom of fabric pot into the tub and use the 'drain off water' in the tub to test for ph..?

    Grow light on outdoor plants?

Looks like pests to me. Not sure anything at this point in your Virginia season will get them to full ripe. But getting rid of pests won't hurt and a step in the right direction for sure...  Curling leaves and on the older bigger leafs the tiny pinholes in the leaves look like spider mite...

    Fatali Plant Won't Turn Green

I use the ratio solid7 recommends, but only had root aphids, never grubs that I knew of. Have seen slugs slimming around the patio, but never in any raised containers. Neem drench killed root aphids within 24hours for me.   Maybe  shake up a little warm water neem drench batch at normal...

    Fatali Plant Won't Turn Green

This brings up an unpopular subject, examining the roots when problems point to a possible container root zone problem, before its too late for the plant.   In the past have always avoided pulling plants, hated doing this. But after learning from our forum, now its one of the first places I go...

    hi all

So, then whats your plan for watering..? If like you say your not wanting to spend money on hose,, could maybe if the land is flat, trench in between the rows at a pitch from the water source to feed the water to each row..? Could use that visqueen to line the trench. Or go all Roman, and create...

    Strange looking Scotch bonnets pods

Well, looks like sun scald to a rookie like me. Hard to tell from the pics. Although, if the blemish is real soft and squishy could be 'blossom end rot' from lack of calcium.   If you know what media mix you've planted in, easy to rule out BER. As the needed calcium is in most all commercial...

    Fatali Plant Won't Turn Green

Actually, imo,  solid7 did speculate correctly, it was a problem in root zone...   So the solution was to pull the plant to get to the  'root of the problem, just as you did.   Not sure if grubs introduce toxins like mites do and those kill the plant, or they just destroy the roots not...
