    Siv's third time's a charm

LOL!    Well of course I thought this would happen! But I'm glad you still decided to go with the 7 kratkys Siv, good thing is that you already have the plants, the room and the equipment to add more... I say go for it!

    HeatMiser's 2021 Glog

Thanks D,   There's no gradual color change on these, they go from green to red. There's a picture on post #87 here http://thehotpepper.com/topic/74526-heatmisers-2021-glog/?p=1713391, where you can see a pod starting to turn. The change in color is pretty fast once it starts.   Now, I...

Well, I think I cracked the puzzle of the Mystery Pepper. Seems awfully similar to a Thai Dragon. The pod shape, clustering habit and description all fit what I have.   Peter Stanley has a taste test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1s59JbFTImQ

Thanks Paul! It's definitely a good thing to be able to harvest pods all year long from these indoor plants, the fun never stops!

    PaulG 2021

Looking good Paul. Your post actually answered a question I had about the current temps we are having, hovering from mid 40's to mid 50's. So I took your lead and brought my plants inside as well - better safe than sorry!

    HeatMiser's 2021 Glog

Here's where things stand at the moment.   The 5 gal plants continue to get bushier, with the exception of the Paquime, which I've been trimming pretty aggressively. Right now, I have pods on the Zapotec, Paquime and Yum-Yum. I haven't noticed any pods on the Antep Aci Dolma yet, but they could...

    HeatMiser's 2021 Glog

Thanks Paul, that's precisely what I'm doing at the moment. I decided for a wait-and-see approach. The good thing is that the grow room is also the office, so I use some of those boring, unproductive meetings at work to take a look at the plant and go after the affected leaves. The plant looks...

    HeatMiser's 2021 Glog

Thanks CD, it grew up quite bushy because I messed around with it early on to prevent it from growing too tall, but definitely a variety worth growing IMO.    The Zapotec pods are starting to lengthen a bit, just like you said - the plant started out a bit slow compared to the others, but it's...

    Downriver - 2021

Aphids are the worst, with slugs a very close second. I have a philosophy of not bringing plants back in once they've been outside, so no overwinters for me. However, I'm not entirely opposed to cloning if a plant does particularly well. Hope you get a handle on those pests!

    CaneDog 2021

Looking good CD!    With rain in the forecast for next week I was wondering if maybe I started hardening them off too early. Good to know you're also doing the same.

    HeatMiser's 2021 Glog

That is an awesome resource CD, thanks a lot! I've sent them an email already - hopefully they are not too busy.   Anyway, if it's BLS, it must have come from the seeds, as there is no soil involved in my grows. I'm wondering if I should get rid of the plant altogether to prevent it from...

    HeatMiser's 2021 Glog

Hmm, there seems to be a problem with the Paquime. Some of the new-ish leaves towards the top of the plant are developing some spots. Here are a few pics:         This is the only affected plant at the moment. Any ideas what could be causing this? Seems like bacterial leaf spot upon a quick...

Well, it seems like the weather is changing here in the PNW. This is great news because the plants in coco were getting crowded and some of them started showing signs of stress, so they are now spending some time outside. Hopefully this is not just a temporary thing. Note to future self - I...

    Tybo2021

Sorry to hear about the gnats Tybo. Probably not going to help, but my solution was to go full hydro when growing indoors after a couple failed attempts with soil. This year I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and tried coco coir - no pest issues so far (and no nutrients in the medium...

    CaneDog 2021

Those are some hardy plants, pretty sure it will turn the corner despite having been a bit cold. It's in good hands...   That's quite the spread on germination time. Similar to my experience - last year they took about a week to get the first hooks.   We absolutely love the weather, I'm...

    CaneDog 2021

Good to see those Tepins again CD, pretty sure you'll get the OW one to bounce back.   How was germination on the other 3 you have? They took ~3 months for me to get them to start this time...

    Siv's third time's a charm

That looks awesome Siv!   Can't wait to see how big those plants will get. Pretty sure they'll be comfy there!

    HeatMiser's 2021 Glog

Short update...   There's some good weather coming for next week, so I decided to pot up a couple of my coco plants get them acclimated to living outside. The two lucky ones are the Habanero (right) and Sugar Rush Stripey (left) - the Habanero lost a couple of leaves overnight and has a few...

Haha! Texas is a special place for sure, and one thing that I always find interesting is how much people down there love their state. They sell Texas-shaped tortilla chips (among many other things):     But their BBQ alone is definitely worth visiting for.     Thanks CD - I'm also eager to...
